Great for helping her practice spins- it really paid off for her, it also helps with balance and core strength with spinning

I am not sure what I expected out of this, but my daughter thought it would help her turns. It’s a small disk that allows you to spin but it goes a little faster than one normally does when in a turn. My daughter didn’t care for it but it’s cheap enough to give it a try.

I bought this as figure skating spinners tend to pretty expensive (CAD $100+) and I figured I’d try an inexpensive amazon one. Basically a waste of money. If it was a rotating one (like the Jerry’s spinner), it would work, but because its meant to rotate on its own on the floor, having to have a full foot down does not make sense on this especially since this is so small. I am a US 6 womens shoe, and this is still way too small :( Wasted my money and now it’s just sitting on my tv stand collecting dust.

Former ballerina 20 yrs here. This board is a helpful little invention to improve your turns and it is not for beginners. By this I mean that you have to have the proper technique in place already - you must be able to do a full steady turn on your own with good spotting, solid balance, etc. before you use this board. You cannot learn how to do this on this board because it moves fast and you don't have the same level of control over it as you do over your feet straight on the floor. Once you can do solid single turns, this board is really helpful in getting you to the point of doing multiple pirouettes in succession from a single push off, ideally en pointe. This is not the right board, if you are going to be doing multiple pirouettes coming up and down your heel - that is floor work. The people who are saying things like it is too small either don't work en pointe, or are trying to do multiple push offs to power their turns. If you have proper technique, this board will really help you.

This board does what it says. The size is a little small, perhaps more suited for young teens than adults, but certainly workable by an adult with a raised heel. This is good, though, because ballet dancers (as well as modern dance and other forms) would tend to not practice with a flat foot. This allows practice in relevé (raised heel) for developing a good pirouette.Experts recommend that a slow turn is essential, as going too fast can make your spotting sloppy. That may be tricky with any spin board, as they tend to go pretty fast unless you exercise some control. This tool can be dangerous if you haven't trained a bit first; it will simply amplify any problems you have by making you go too fast. I would look up some videos on how to use this type of spin board.

This is an excellent turn board for learning balance and foot placement. I've seen many larger boards that are the size of dinner plates. The larger boards work okay...but it is very difficult to center the front ball of your foot over the center of mass on the board when they are that big. If you are off center at all, it will not work. So then you are usually having to learn how to center your foot on the board, rather than learning how to balance, spot and rotate on your foot. This board however, is about 5 inches in diameter...maybe smaller. But it is the perfect size for centering the front ball of your foot. It can easily be gripped with your foot and manipulated into position to prep for the turn. 1000 times better than a larger board!! And it is very easy to center yourself and feel the sweet spot prior to rotation. The board is extremely strong robust and will easily accommodate whatever you ask it to do. The base is beveled slightly for easy rotation. Works best on hardwood, tile or short cut carpet. The only times I had issues with it was on shaggy carpet...however... the shaggy carpet DID act as a stabilizer when I was first trying it out. Which made it so much easier to learn at first. Overall, a fantastic tool for dancers, that's small, compact, easy to use, and very effective! I would get this in a HEARTBEAT for ANY dancer wanting to improve balance, turns, strength, and spotting!! WELL WORTH IT!!!!

Ok so my favorite thing about this is probably that it feels safe because the bottom does not move easily and remains fixed to the floor instead of slipping. Right now my daughter is starting spotting in dance and this is a great tool to help her practice this. I like that it will grow with her in that as she gets into more complicated turns this will still work to help with those. She can also go a little faster on this than on the floor which helps her practice as well. It also seems to help her practice balance. It is very small and weighs nothing so it is easy to store and pull out when needed.
