This device worked great. As advertised. Very glad I purchased. Attached just over 400 clips and it is just like it was when I started.

OK, this seems like a pretty silly tool, because it literally just holds the deck fastener while you are screwing it in place. BUT.... it actually is pretty useful. It steadies the screw fastening system while you are fiddling with other things. YES..... you can just hold that little fastener in your hand but damn it is nice to have something that you can simply snap it into place and hold while you are doing the project. For the $20ish dollar price point it actually is a pretty handy little tool to have. Some reviews mention that it is just cheap plastic and YES it is but if you don't throw it onto the ground it should be ok for most of a deck project.Highly recommend just for convenience and I'm all about convenience these days. This work is hard enough, it's the little things that count!

I’m finishing an elevated 10 x 16 deck using trex boards and can’t tell you how much this little tool has helped! While it makes life easier, installing trex deck is not for the faint of heart.I’m 66 and installed the entire deck by myself and have a couple of suggestions / comments that may help you.The largest benefit of using this tool is how easy it makes it to hold the fastener tight against the trex board while driving the screw into the joist. But be warned, it will not provide enough leverage to push the trex boards tight without someone helping push the boards while you install the fastener. I’m not sure you can get them all tight even with someone helping.I didn’t want to ask for help (stubborn that way) so I used 1/2” heavy duty pipe clamps that you can buy on Amazon for less than $9. You will need a 10’ section of 1/2” conduit, also less then $10, and this helps to avoid the “wavy lines” you read about when doing your research. My deck lines are dead on and pulling the joints tight with a clamp makes a big difference. Adds a little time but you will be happy!!Paint your joists black before installing Trex!! The trex hidden fasteners place a 1/4” gap between each board. They say it’s for drainage and expansion, but the joist are very visible (during parts of the day) between the gaps and I wish it was 1/8” gap, but it is what it is. You can see what I’m talking about in the photo.I looked at the Trex knock off tools available here on Amazon, and while they may be fine, I didn’t want to take a chance. I figured I’m already saving thousands by doing it myself so what’s an extra $6?This tool is a 5 star in my book and a must have if you’re installing a deck by yourself. Hope this helps and good luck!

We ordered this to help with installation of our timber tech decking. This holds the fasteners in the perfect position for simple accurate installation. Our deck is almost 1000sf, and this product held up with zero wear and tare. The materials are sturdy. More than worth the cost!

I recently used the Trex Hidden Fastener Tool for my decking project, and it was a game-changer. This tool made installing hidden fasteners a breeze, ensuring a secure, uniform fit between deck boards without the hassle of visible screws or nails. The design is intuitive, and it helped me maintain consistent spacing, which is essential for a clean, professional look. One of the standout features is how it speeds up the installation process. What used to be a time-consuming task was made much quicker and more efficient, saving me a lot of effort and frustration. The tool is also lightweight and easy to handle, which made working for extended periods much more comfortable. The only small drawback is that it takes a little practice to get the perfect rhythm for optimal use, but once you get the hang of it, it's smooth sailing. Overall, the Trex Hidden Fastener Tool is a must-have for any DIY enthusiast or professional builder looking for flawless deck construction. It’s definitely worth the investment!

I’ve been using this to install the Trex planking on my deck. Note; when we built my son’s deck last year we used a piece of the Trex to push on the hidden fastener. While that worked fine, this tool was much easier, and more comfortable to use. The fastener clips into it nicely and the handle makes pushing easy. Minus one star because the funnel part broke off after installing 30 twenty foot planks. We still have 15 more to install, and, fortunately, I have been able to work around not having the funnel piece.

Before installing my Trex deck, I came across this product and questioned whether it was worth the money for essentially a one-time use product as I don't plan on installing any more decks for quite some time. It absolutely was worth the investment. It holds the fasteners firmly and allows you to apply some pressure to push the boards together. Then there is a funnel of sorts to help you align the bit with the screw. Overall, a very helpful tool. It was a bit flimsy in that the funnel attachment started falling off every other use but it was still better than holding each fastener and hoping to keep it straight while sinking the screw into the cross-beam.

Don't listen to the negative Nancy's. Just take the screw guide off, it easily snaps on and off. Use it without screw guide cone. Works amazing.
