We've had a raccoon digging into our garbage can every night for several months, spreading trash across our yard. I've tried placing heavy rocks on top of the lid, but the raccoon just knocks it off. I just put this strap on my garbage can, and, short of the raccoon chewing through the strap (which is a possibility that I hope doesn't occur), the lid is impossible to open with this lock on. I look forward to not having to pick up garbage strewn around my yard every morning, and the raccoon will have to find somewhere else to dig into. This is great.

Works perfectly, easy to set up as a ratchet strap for the truck bed. Very happy to have a secure way to keep the raccoons out of the garbage.

This adjustable trash can lid lock works great. Easy to install, easy to take off and kept the raccoons out of my trash. The nylon strap is a good quality strap, seems durable and should hold up well. It fits my trash barrel well with plenty of extra strap left. The ratchet is ok, it’s not high quality heavy duty or anything but it works. It has some weight to it, and the mechanisms work. The straps pull out smooth enough and easy. I especially like it because I don’t have to put holes in the city’s trash barrel lids.

No strap is bear-proof in my opinion - without being ridiculously complex or more trouble than it is worth. This strap is simple and should help deter raccoons and maybe larger animals as well. There are other products on the market which I don't believe are worth the money or are too easy for a raccoon or bear to pop open. A ratchet is a little harder; I know some humans who struggle with loosening a ratchet. So I anticipate that this strap will work well for me. Cost is reasonable, it will fit most toters easily, and it's simple to remove on trash day. Be kind to your trash workers!

I am absolutely thrilled with this product. We have raccoons and possums that regularly open the lid on our rental 96 gallon trash cart that is supposed to keep out animals in our suburban neighborhood.This product was magical for me. I love that I did not have to drill anything into my rented cart, the webbing will be fine in the summer heat, and it will not stretch. It keeps the lid closed.I highly recommend this as a solution to keeping your trash can lid in place.

First, I'm a product tester meaning my reviews are 100% critical. I'm 63 and retired after 32 years USMC so I've seen good and the bad. Raccoons, coyotes or possums I don't know what but something's been raiding the local trash bins, this put a stop to that.
