We have raccoons everywhere, and these have been a great resource for keeping our garbage cans secure. And the garbageman like them better as well because they are easier to remove then the current system we have. They were easy to install. You do need a drill. They are sturdy and I hope they last a long time. I felt the price was very reasonable.

I have added these to all of my outdoor trash cans. They work great and now the racons and possums are starving.

Yep, we have possums and trash bandits in our urban neighborhood, and they are persistent. These straps do just as they say. Once they're installed (instructions provided) they keep the pesky critters out and the trash in the can. this comes with the bolts, washers, and nuts, but you'll need a marker and a drill to make the holes. Easy to do, took less than ten minutes, including getting the tools out and walking to the trash cans. I like that the straps unbuckle for putting trash in and for trash collection day. Just leave them unsnapped at the curb, and snap them up on the way back. Bonus -- even if the wind knocks over your cans, the trash stays put. Two straps will do one can. If you only use one, the animals can still pull up the sides and get in (ask me how I know.) This solves a pesky problem and sends those beasties to your neighbors cans.

Loved the strap for a couple of weeks. The bear learned to bite the plastic buckles and climb into the trash can. Great buckle except for bears.

I was sick of coming home to find that my recycling garbage can had blown open and I have recycling plastics blown all over my yard. These straps make it so my bin stays closed and it’s easy to open when needed. It took my husband about 5 minutes to install and works great! I highly recommend these straps!

This kit has nice, beefy nylon straps and tough-looking buckles to dissuade your neighborhood bears from your trash. You’ll need a drill of some kind, but otherwise there’s everything you need. I’ve been timing my delivery to the curb in the early morning so it doesn’t sit out for longer than half an hour or so. With these straps, I can actually put it out the night before, just like a normal person! Buy these. For some things, it’s nice to be normal.

We live in a mountainous, wooded area that we share with various critters. We have many raccoons that love to feast on bird feeders and trash cans. We also have the occasional black bear who do the same, but more destructively. Our garbage cans are heavy duty with snap-down lids. We normally put them out the night before trash collection, and the snap-down lids do a pretty good job of foiling the 'coons, but not the occasional bear. We recently had a visit from a bear who made a real mess - scattering garbage everywhere. I ordered one pair of these straps to hopefully foil the bears, and if it works I'll order another for the other trash can.The strap material appears to be car seat-belt material so it's very strong. The buckles are likewise heavy duty plastic, with male and female parts. The ends that attach to the trash can are heavy steel, plated to resist rust. The supplied 1/4" bolts, nuts and washers are likewise plated. I attached the two straps to the lid approximately 90 degrees from the snap-downs on the lid. I attached one side with the female strap half on the top and the other side with the male strap on top, since the 90 degrees wasn't exact, so the lid could only be locked down one way. I connected the straps on the can wall so the threads were on the outside to avoid snagging trash bags.Overall, this seems to be a very robust product and should do the job. It's yet to be tested by a bear, and if it proves to be bear-proof, or not, in the long run I'll post an update.Edit:12/30/24 I've ordered another set.
