You don't realize how much you need these straps until you use them. Quite often with the strong winds around our area, the trash and recycle bin lids with pop up and down setting off our motion security camera, not to mention the noise. We used to have to put a brick on top of each lid.Now with these easy to use straps, we simply pull the strap past the edge of the lid to the next groove on the side of the bin, where the strap can latch on to. You can also adjust the length of the strap and how tight you want it to be. They really do a fantastic job of keeping those lids secure now.

I had ordered another type of can strap that required drilling a hole and attaching, but my trash service said please don't drill into our cans. After some more searching I found these and I can say they absolutely do the trick without altering the can or being too annoying to the pickup guys. The strap can be elongated or shortened for sizing, and since it is elastic it is super simple to affix and detach.
