I am super happy with this adjustable trash can lock. We live in a neighborhood with lots of raccoons, and for some reason we also end up with lots of stray dogs.These straps lock the trash can tightly and they are super sturdy and durable!

As expected. This trash can lock does what it says it does. From now on, the javelinas will no longer have access to our trash! Yay! It expands to lock very large cans, which is good. Here in the Arizona sun, I may have to shorten the elastic over time, but I’m willing to do that to keep critters from making a mess in the driveway.

Although I live alongside wildlife, I don't have animals opening my trash cans. I do have high winds that flip the lids and move the cans. I don't like the lids to be open because of the possibility of it raining into the can or animals climbing in looking for goodies. I wanted a strap that would secure the lid without me having to screw anything into my can. This strap is perfect. The hooks are heavy duty and the strap itself is reinforced. The clip closest to the adjustment buckle should be placed on the trash can handle and the other side clipped either to the lip under the lid or to the silver bar closer to the bottom if you don't have a decent lip on your can. With the buckle closer to the can handle, it won't get caught on the lid. I have tried to lift the lid with the strap on and it lifts just the smallest amount. Now my trash can is secure, and yet it is so easy to unclip it for use. This one fits the bill perfect for me!

These Metal Double Claw Trash Can locks have made securing the lids to my trash/recycle receptacles so much easier! They're quick and simple to install, easy to remove and they tighten down securely to keep lids in the closed position during high wind/stormy days. If wild animals were an issue for us, I'm certain they would help to prevent trash can raids as well! The metal hooks are a lot stronger and sturdier than I expected them to me, I was really surprised at the durability/weight of them when I received them. I highly recommend to anyone to purchase one of these straps for each one of there receptacles, there not nearly as cumbersome as using rope/string/bungee cords to secure lids in place (or heavy objects).

I was expecting the woven straps but instead got a very strong, wide elastic band that really stretches!! Plus, you can adjust the length of it!! This works great on my trash can to hold the lid down in strong winds or to keep animals out. But with the really strong steel hooks, this could also be used to anchor things in the back of the truck in some situations! This was a bonus buy in my book!

I recently received this "Trash Can Locks for Animals, Adjustable Garbage Can Lid Locks Security Strap, Raccoon Bear Proof Trash Can Lock, Prevent Odor from Spreading,Fits Multiple Sizes Cans" because raccoons (that's "racoon" if you're in the EU).Yeah, it seems as if there's been a surge in the raccoon population here recently and I've suddenly had to start being very protective of my garbage. Or at least I'm having to monitor that there are OTHERS out there with more interest in my garbage than I have after I put it in the outside bin. I've seen neighbors using cinder blocks and all sorts of other "weights" to hold down the tops of their overstuffed garbage cans and I thought, "I don't want to do that - that's kind of a trashy way to deal with the trash" and started looking for better alternatives. That's what led me to this garbage can lock.This item arrived in a very nondescript package - so nondescript that I had convinced myself it was an erroneous order until I began browsing my order history. When I saw the "trash can locks for animals" on the list, it immediately registered and I knew what this product was. I mean... without any information on the package, what I opened was a box with a plastic bag inside. Inside the plastic bag was a long black canvas strap, each end of which was connected to two metal "hooks" that looked to be the right size to hang over a closet rod or something. I didn't remember ordering closet organization stuff (lately at least). Thank goodness for the order history to clear things up, eh?This trash can lid-lock is such a simple idea that it's almost offensive that trash can manufacturers haven't already built it into their cans' designs. One end of the strap connects to the can's hinge. The other end of the strap connects to the underside of the can on the opposite side (where you open the can). Once connected, the strap prevents the lid from being opened without unhooking it first. Or at least that's how it works on the style of trash can I have, though it seems this strap is usable on a variety of different can styles, so I'd think that means it'll work for YOURS too. (Check the product images for examples of can types as well as visual instructions for how to use the strap.)This trash can lock is priced at $12.99 as I type this review, and though I haven't had more than a surface-level need for it so far, I'm pretty sure I'll feel like it's paid for itself the first time I see that a neighbor's trash got raided overnight while mine stayed right where it was supposed to be - securely contained in the can until pickup.Happy to recommend.

This is a GREAT elastic strap for securing a garbage can. In my area winds can come up pretty fast -- causing garbage cans to tip and spill their contents. This is going to solve that problem! It's not really a "lock" as there is no lock, but animals will certainly not have access. It is a flat stretchable bungee strap with adjustable length. On each end there are curved metal claws that seem made just for the bar in front of the can, and for the handle on the back. Wonderful item!
