This product works if you have a lot of time and want the satisfaction of cleaning a pelt the old fashion way with the calloused hands to prove it. If you want to clean your pelts spotless in less than 10 minutes and don’t mind looking like a total red neck, use a pressure washer. When my son is old enough to clean his first deer I will get out this flesh scraper and tell him how we cleaned pelts back in the days before pressure washers, then use it to open a cold beer.

Used for goat skin, was difficult to use was light and not very sharp kept slidding over the fat and the grip was slippery after few minute of use, blade was very small for what I intended to use it for maybe would work best for rabbit skin

I tried using it on a coyote pelt, but it was basically useless. The pelt was from a very thin young coyote and did not remove or break up the membrane with some flesh attached. I am disappointed in it. Perhaps I don't know how to use it properly. I just tried to scrap with it. I wound up using a large butcher knife 90 degrees to the pelt. That worked best.

I ordered this tool to assist me with cleaning some hides. I started to use it on a few smaller hides I have. I noticed I needed to put a slightly better edge on it after I used it a few times. I did that and started to use it for scraping off some fat on a deer hide. I flipped it over a few times as I worked close to the edge where my fleshing knife wouldn't get too very easy. It was sturdy enough and is practical if you are working with smaller hides or the edges of the hides. The handle fit well into my hand and it seems to have been made fairly well. I wouldn't try to use it on larger hides as my only tool cause it requires a lot more work to use than when used on smaller hides.

Over priced junk. Blades were rounded and impossible for fleshing. One blade was also uneven and needs to be put on grinding wheel to straighten. I ended up having to but another tool a week after this one for less than half the price. Trapping catalogs have better quality fleshers for about $5.95. The second flesher I purchased (local) had one side serrated which is wonderful if used correctly. This one will have to be modified and sharpened to be salvaged.

I haven't used this yet but I am anticipating I will in the next few weeks. We were giving some antelope skins by someone so we my young son could practicing tanning and maybe make some moccasins from the skin. The first thing we noticed was that there was a lot of 'meat' on the skin still.So we found out we needed some tools, this had good reviews and we purchased it. One thing you notice when handling it is that this is very sturdy with some weight on it. The edges are not dull either. While I don't believe they are the sharpest edge you could get, they feel like they could cut through some stuff. I am thinking we might sharpen the edges.I believe having this tool in hand will be very helpful. I'll try to update after we have used it on our hides.
