This looks stunning on my counter and I can’t wait to put it to good use with stews and soups this fall/winter. Quality seems great so far.

This Dutch pan was perfect! It doesn’t leave our stove top that’s how often we use it. Looks just like it did since we got it.

I own a Staub 7 quart in Grenadine. But the Staub is better for a large roast or whole chicken and a little too large for baking bread, spaghetti sauce, chili, etc. I wanted a smaller 4 to 5.5 quart size but I didn't want to spend $300 - $400 on another Staub. However I do really love the rich "Grenadine" color offered by Staub. So, I was watching ATK (America's Test Kitchen) and they reviewed dutch ovens and presented the lower cost Tramontina as a reasonably priced alternative to their top choice (Le Cruset). OMG!!!! I found this Tramontina on Amazon for a fraction of the cost of LeCruset or Staub and the color is almost identical to Staub's "Grenadine". The top fits perfectly, the interior is a light color which translates to better cooking results, and you can see the bottom to check for burning or doneness, the handles are large enough to get a good grip on the pot when moving it, and the heat retention is exactly what you would expect from a dutch oven.It was expertly packed and arrived in perfect comdition. Also, the size is a perfect all-around size. Wow! I made a great purchase!

I have a set of Le Creuset in meringue, but I needed a larger braising pan for meal prep and bigger dishes. I spotted one of these in a shop, but they didn’t have any in the color I was after, so I came looking online and found it! Side by side, this is a PERFECT match for the “meringue” color. The only giveaway is the knob on the lid. This thing is massive and definitely requires two hands when handling, but it’s already been such a game changer. I was ambitious for the first use and seared two whole branzinos— they were a little big, but boy, were they good. This isn’t normally how I break in a pan, and honestly, I didn’t use enough oil for it being the first use. By the second use (a veggie curry with leeks, mushrooms, etc), it already showed signs of improvement. This pan is going to prime quickly, and it’s meant to be used often! The price for this level of quality still blows my mind.

This is an update: I just realized that I never provided an update regarding the outcome. I did call Tramontina and they referred me to Amazon. Amazon suggested returning and ordering another one. So, I ordered another one and kept what I deemed the best top and bottom of the two. :-))I’ve used it two times so far, once for braised short ribs of beef and once for braised chicken. The food came out delicious and the braiser worked very well. I’m upgrading to four stars. Not giving five because I did have to order again and return the original. So, for the inconvenience it gets four stars. However, it does seem like a very nice quality braiser. It is definitely worth the price which, by the way, has dropped again. As I read the reviews for this product, I noticed many people said that their braiser came chipped. I decided to take a chance because I like the shape of this braiser as it isn’t as rounded on the bottom which gives it a larger cooking area. Also, I have other products from Tramontina and they are of decent quality. So, I decided to take a chance. I received the braiser on Monday 10/10/22. Lo and behold, as I was unpacking it, taking the lid out of the plastic bag, I actually saw a piece chip off. I’ve included pictures. Although it is a very small chip, I’m afraid that it may grow and continue to chip off.I will call Tramontina to see if they will send me another lid. I will update this review based on the their response. The braiser looks good.I haven’t cooked in it yet and I will return it if I don’t get a replacement lid. To add insult to injury, I purchased it for $89.95 and when I went to write the review, I noticed that the price dropped to $74.31.

To be honest if I could afford Le Creuset enameled cast iron cookware I would buy it. But I can't afford Le Creuset so I do the next best thing --- I buy Tramontina enameled cast iron cookware.I know Le Creuset is the best and will last 3 lifetimes if taken care of. I don't really care about cookware that will last 100 years if taken care of. I know my Tramontina will give me a good 15 to 20 years if properly taken care of --- no dishwasher. These all need to be washed by hand. It is worth it considering how versatile these enameled cast iron cookware is. And how easy they clean up. Just let them soak a wee bit with some hot water and a bit of dish soap and use a gentle sponge on them and BOOM! Spot on spotlessly clean. Easy.I braise a lot of things. I roast a lot of things. I cook a lot of things. I cook everyday. I do not operate a microwave heat 'n serve thaw 'n serve oh it's all already made in a box for you, or let's have someone named Bennie with God knows what disease in the back of some grocery store make what I'm going to serve my family and eat myself --- no, I cook. Real food. Whole foods as much as I can.And anyone doing that, or desiring to do that even once a week, once a month, once in a while ---- ought to have at least one, or two good quality enameled cast iron to do that sort of real cooking in. To do this then I heartedly recommend buying yourself a piece, or two, or three of Tramontina brand. You will like it. Yes, it's heavy. Its enameled cast iron. But if you want to do something right then why not --- do it right? There are tradeoffs in everything in life. You want the quality and convenience and ability to cook almost limitless, tasty, wonderful foods by braising, roasting, etc.? Then use the right tool! And unless one is truly feeble, truly very weak in the arms these are manageable items to use. Just be careful. Take your time. Don't rush. Don't be braising and texting! Buon apetito!
