This one was a replacement for the guest bathroom when we were doing all our renovations. We put in a new shower system, but it didn’t have the tub spout and diverter. I got this thinking it would be just a simple add-on to the rest of the shower system. I didn’t think there would be any issues at all considering it should be a very simple product. I don’t do the plumbing work. I have a contractor who is very capable. I gave this to him and he had a lot of issues trying to get the diverter to work properly. It took him a lot more time to get this working properly than it should have. The actual installation of putting it on the wall and hooking it up was simple but getting it to work right was a different story. I almost told him just to forget it and I’ll get a different one, but he wanted to make it right and he finally did. But after a while, I noticed with some use that it started to not fully divert from tub to shower. I think I’ll probably end up just getting another one and having him replaced it again.

This CalcMetal tub sprout diverter was nearly identical to my 10 year old diverter sprout that has stop holding water when the knob is pulled up for shower. For my installation, I was able to just unscrew my old sprout and screw in the new since I have a 1/2" copper male adapter already in place. This sprout comes with a large selection of adapters for different pipe ends so it should have an adapter to fit your existing pipe end and if this is a completely new install, it has slip on adapters to make life alot easier.

the water flow does not stop and the water falls un uniformed. easy to install but disapointed with the quality of the water falling all over the place.

This was my first experience using a slip on diverter. I've installed about a half dozed diverter/spout in my past but each of those was threaded on. The spount on our tub at our cottage had become corroded due to the hard water and looked horrible. I was going to replace it with another thread on spout/diverter however the one I purchased would did not thread on deep enough to fit flush against the tab wall. This left a space where water could possible get in behind the spout and even if it didn't, it didn't look good. Instead, I cut the threaded portion off the copper pipe extending out of the tub and used this slip on instead. Installation was simple, it didn't leak and I was able to install it up against the tub wall giving it a more finished look. As I said, I've never installed a slip on design before but after using this I wouldn't hesitate to in the future.
