Windows OS incorporates multi-factor authentication technology based upon standards developed by the FIDO Alliance. The operating system includes improved support for biometric authentication through the Windows Hello and Passport platforms. This USB Fingerprint Reader device enables the software support of fingerprint-recognition login. Credentials are stored locally and protected using asymmetric encryption. The Passport platform allows networks, software and websites to authenticate users using either a PIN or biometric login to verify their identity, without sending a password.

I have tried everything I can think of to get the device to install. It will appear in the device manager with the yellow triangle. Updating the driver says it is the most current version. I tried downloading drivers from Dell for fingerprint reader. None work. Windows 11 on a Dell Latitude 7420.I can find absolutely nothing online for this device to try to get support. I will most likely be returning it.

After the lastpass data breach, I decided to set up more safeguards against future password theft by buying this biometric fingerprint reader for my computer. It works with my new password manager, as a means of additional verification and not requiring a password for certain apps. It's also worked well as a windows hello login method for me. The best part is how cheap it is. It also works instantly for me as soon as I tap my finger on the reader.

I have been using one of these for about 3 months on the computer that I primarily use for work. Easy log-in and works well with password manager in Chrome or Edge. So easy, in fact, that this purchase is my 2nd one - for my computer at home! I delayed for about a year before I bought my first one, and that was just stupid on my part. I wish I had picked one of these up much, much earlier. Bottom line: Love it.PROs - Small; Easy to Use; Plug-and-Play; Easy set-up through Windows 11; and Easy to Use. (yes, I know...)Cons - None come to mind.Again, LOVE IT!

I did a search in Amazon for a "fingerprint reader for Mac" this item came back. However, I did not look deep enough into the details which clearly say this is for Window's only. That's on me, my mistake for not TAKING THE RESULTS OF AMAZON AS SOMETHING I CAN TRUST.

We are using this on a laptop. Because of this it is hard to position your finger to scan. You have to lift the laptop up. Just be aware of how you are going to use it.

I've only just received it so longevity is still in the air.But on my Win10 system plugged it in and it installed drivers, then was able to go to sign-in options and setup finger right away no errors no misreads, flawless. would recommend for any computer that doesn't have a windows hello compatible device.

This was the least expensive of the fingerprint readers but after reading all of the reviews it seemed to be the best regardless of price. First, with Windows 10 there are no drivers to search for and install. This installed fine on two desktops and one notebook. I purchased three of them and they all work flawlessly. The fingerprint recognition is virtually instant. I was able to set up my password program and it also opens with just a quick finger press. No more remembering passwords just the quick finger and it's done. Even on the notebook this doesn't stick out very much on the USB slot and fits into my notebook carrying case without an issue. On the desktop I use a USB extension hub as shown in the picture. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone.

I have a laptop with the fingerprint reader and find it very convenient to use for logging in to Windows 10. So, I set out looking for an easy solution to gain the same functionality on my desktop computer. I was skeptical that a $25 USB item would provide what I was looking for but figured it was worth a try. I received the TNP Nano USB Fingerprint Reader and plugged it into a USB port on the backside of my wired keyboard. Windows detected the device and the driver installed without any issue. Next, I went to the sign-in options in Windows 10 settings and set-up the fingerprint reader with ease. I have only been using the device for 1 week but have found it to work flawlessly several times per day and without any delay. I will be sure to update this review if extended use changes my opinion. I have heard some say the USB fingerprint reader is a security risk since it can simply be unplugged but I don't really understand their case. If the reader is unplugged, you will need to provide credentials for one of the other sign-in options on the computer.
