Despite some quality issues, these are really good racks for the price. I recommend them. The good: Nice-looking, sturdy, easy to install, adjustable for different height/cab clearance as well as different width beds. The not as good: as many other reviewers have noted, there are chips on these racks right out of the box that will rust soon. There also are a couple gaps in the welds where the base of the bars meet the mounting plate. I have noticed a 1-2 mpg decrease in fuel economy on the highway with these racks installed in the high-clearance configuration. These racks give me total confidence while driving 70 mph in my 2014 Silverado double cab with my 17 foot, 80ish pound canoe strapped to them. I mounted the racks using C-clamps instead of drilling into my truck. Easy install. With the c-clamps, I don't think I will be able to use a tonneau cover while the racks are on. If you drill and bolt the racks to your truck, then you could probably use a tonneau cover, as long as it fits between the sides of the bed and not over the sides. All in all, great racks, especially for the price. I would buy them again.

I got these to carry kayaks. I'll go through a brief set of pros and cons:Pros1) Sturdy and durable when it comes to material, weight holding ability and the strength of the tie off handles that are welded on. It feels good and it holds well.2) Amazing price. I couldn't find anything like this for anywhere near this price.3) Does what it should and looks decent enough.Cons1) Installation. I took one look at the instructions, thought about drilling holes in my truck and took truck and rack to my local body shop. I have a good relationship with them and they charged $125 to install it. Ok, so it's less of a bargain now, but with a bed liner interfering with the mounting of the screws and my uncertainties, I didn't want to risk destroying my truck.2) The way the posts angle in from the edge of your truck means you lose space on the rack. I come about 12 inches short of being able to ride two kayaks on top side by side because one has to be angled to fit. This was done to fit the contour of your truck and it looks decent and it works. But I wish they stayed wider all the way up without that inward angle.3) Bought kayak brackets to go on the rack that will turn the kayaks at an upward angle, saving space, but the absolutely circular shape of the crossbars mean the kayak mounts want to turn and roll. If you strap the boats down, they stay put, but it's a pain to work with. I ultimately removed them and rode with one boat flat and the other at an angle leaning on the flat one for support.I'd probably buy again. For a little more than $200, I got this installed. Not much else is available at that price and certainly nothing that would include installation.

I needed a rack to carry large lumber (4x8x16) for a job. I ordered these badboys on Saturday and received them on Tuesday WAY ahead of said delivery time HUGE PLUS. I have an 06 Toyota Tacoma short bed. I knew I would have to do a little work to get these on but they went on surprisingly easy. Working at an auto body shop awhile back I had some insight to how things are put on and how to remove them. The compartments can be removed, I also removed the track system so they would fit snug. Once everything was removed I was able to attach them to my truck at 3 points per rack post, 2 bolts (provided) and utilizing the track system to my advantage I placed a hole in the bracket inline with the bolt that holds track system on making so I have full access to the track if I need it. It took me aprox 3 hrs to attach these on my truck only because I had to drill 3 new holes and I took my time to make sure everything lined up. I used thread lock on the set screws and for good measure I put in eye bolts on either side of the set screws on the top rail for added strength and more tiedown points. Even if the set screws come loose the eye bolts will keep it secure. Everything went back on perfectly so well I can even put on my plastic side covers (with a bit of modification) if I so choose. I read the other Toyota Tacoma review and was able to improve his method, I did not need to reverse the bolts or anything of the sort. I did not have any problems with the hardware and for a 100.00 rack I little ding here and there (poor packaging) is hardly something to whine about. I did not have to cut anything down either. I am VERY pleased with this product and would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone in need of a simple, effective and very strong ladder rack system. I can if I so choose remove them at anytime they are that easy. Truth be told I am a glorified handyman by trade so stuff of this nature is easy to me, making things work is what I do best :)
