TIME-SERTis a solid bushing insert. This facilitates easy installation and allows for full torque to be applied to repaired threads, ensuring a strong, permanent repair. TIME-SERTis thin walled due to synchronized internal / external threads. Small outer diameter allows for installation in areas where clearance is critical. TIME-SERTis self-positioning. The flange on the top of the insert will insure that the insert cannot wind down into the newly repaired hole. TIME-SERTis self locking. On installation the bottom internal threads of the insert expand to lock the insert in place.

Great product that works better than a helicoil and easy to install. If done right, makes a nice fit. Product was delivered within one day also.

Time-Sert is an amazing product, it is higher cost, but it makes a crappy situation turn into a kinda fun fix. I enjoyed how well they worked I installed them on other non damaged threads to avoid future problems. This is a fun product to use low frustration levels if you can drill out a thread.

Lord help you if you need these, because you have already thrown wrenches and cursed a lot... after all that these are the solution. They’re a God send. They just plain work, so well in fact they’re holding the clamping loads for my cylinder heads on my ls9 pushing 20psi of boost going on over a year.(Pro tip: if you’re doing the same job the inset on arp studs is deeper than the tool for these so you’ll have to machine the tip of the cleaner/locator tool... part of the cause of that is arp just renumbered duramax studs since they’re m12 instead of m11 like the rest of the ls cars)Disclaimer: I wrote the same review for the inserts themselves

I over-torqued a head bolt and stripped the threads out of an aluminum engine block. At first I thought the head bolt had snapped, but it came out intact with a nice coil of aluminum threads wound around the threads. Ugh! A local machine shop recommended this tool. If you decide to use this, what you will be doing is drilling a slightly larger hole in the block, then threading it, then screwing in a sleeve that gives you the same sized threads as the original. The next guy who looks at it may never know there was any kind of repair, and I was able to torque the head bolts according to spec, just over 45 foot-pounds. I did make some slight modifications, though. In addition to the tool I'm reviewing, I also bought the head bolt insert- it is twice as long, designed for high torque, and cost less than $5. I bought a longer drill bit, the one included here didn't reach to the bottom of the hole I was working on. I also fabricated a jig that I bolted over the bad bolt hole to make sure that my drill went in straight- necessary because I was drilling into soft aluminum, and going in crooked was a definite possibility. In all, I probably spent a total of $135 for everything, but that was minor compared to pulling the block and buying another one. Got the engine back together and it runs great!

I ordered this, as it seemed almost effortless and it had great ratings, well I was able to repair a stripped 12MM blind hole in an Iron Cast Gear Box, it was easy and yes it was torqued to factory specifications and it held its own! I would highly ecommend this product to anyone!
