This is a must for any DIY mechanics. These chase a thread to clean it out. They do not cut threads like a tap and die would. Some people get that confused. If you have rusty or dirty threads, use this set. If you need damaged threads fixed or threads cut, get a tap and die set.I needed this set to clean a thread on the car to mount a hitch. The factory thread hole was rusty so the bolt would only go so far and stop. I used this chaser and it cleaned it up so the bolt would go all the way in now. I recommend this set as you have multiple sizes to work with.

This is a handy little set of metric thread repair tools to have. Not a complete selection but a good start to the more common sizes one will encounter. These tools are less aggressive than a regular tap or die, to prevent removing too much material when attempting a repair.Tightly packed in a hard plastic box, the kit does not take up a lot of room. The first couple of times they save you a trip to the hardware store for a new bolt or two, they will have paid for themselves. Which is why I consider them a great value and recommended purchase.

the sizing on these chasers is wildly off but I waited too long to check and now I can't return it do not buy this, it's junk!

The price was good on this metric thread chaser set, but the thread chaser's actually need some cleaning up before use. Just use the nuts to chase the taps with a little oil and clean before use. If used as is they could actually do more harm than good as the machining was not fully deburred before being sold.

I had a bolt go in sideways on my motorcycle frame and so had to fix the threads. This Unit did the trick. But, First I actually used the tool included (designed to fix threads on bolts) to improve the threads on the thread chaser which had some imperfections. After I did this it did the trick. The thread chaser I used still looked imperfect but it did the job as many other reviewers have described. Just focus on making sure your thread chaser is lined up and going in straight as possible.
