I really like these strings. These strings are very smooth and make no squeaking noise when playing the guitar. They feel like silk and are very easy on the fingers. The sound is bright and clear and crisp with wonderful bass tones coming from the lower end strings. Excellent quality. I highly recommend these strings.

These were recommended by my luthier to put on my 1890 Martin guitar (that he restored). The instrument is braced for gut strings, of course, but these things don't stress the top and they sound great. Highly recommended, unless you're invested in the nylon string sound.

Great strings! Worth the extra money for me. These play like a dream with zero annoying finger slide noise. The overall un-amplified sound on my Taylor guitar isn't as loud as with the Elixer strings that come standard, but the smooth sound with zero slide noise more than makes up for that. Plus, when you play the guitar thru an amp you get a perfect sound! These have become my forever strings!

I wasn't sure at first, but I've decided these strings are amazing. They've turned an unloved beat up old charity shop classical guitar, that was just unplayable into a cherished thing of wonder. The tone is very mellow, similar to classical guitar tone, but it's also brightened with a soft metallic chiming resonance, that seems to sustain for a long time. I've found that they also work well with a slide, as they are smooth (flat wound). Of course being steel, they also work well with a soundhole pickup and keep some of that mellowness in more aggressive amplified sounds. As others mention, they are low tension which makes them suitable for classical guitar, and easy on the fingers. They have ball ends which can be made to work with classical guitars, although personally I modified my guitar to take bridge pins (but that's another story).I put them on 3 days ago, and have not been able to put down that horrible old square necked guitar since.I almost didn't want to give a positive review, to keep them a secret. However I want them to keep making them, so I say they're great.

These KF110 strings are FLAT WOUND, NOT rope core. The Rope Core strings are KR116. At the moment, the Ad name is wrong! Be sure you get the one you want. Also, these have BALL ENDS! These are advertised here as being for classical guitar, but the product info in the package says for Folk and Concert guitars, which are usually steel string instruments. That said, I used a set on a classical guitar. Here’s my experience. I was able to get the strings through the holes in the bridge, but it took some work. I found that bending the end 1/8” of the string slightly made it easier to get the strings through the holes. I also used a sewing needle on a couple strings to tease it out of the hole. That done, the taped ball ends fit into all those holes, tightly, but they fit. Properly put on, as I do, the strings came up to tension with a few twists of the tuning pegs, and unlike nylon strings, they pretty much held their tune from the first. These strings are LOW tension stainless steel, and the stress they put on your classical guitar top is between a set of normal strings and a set of high tension strings. If you use high tension strings, using these will actually be easier on your guitar, unlike ordinary steel strings! How are they? Five of these strings are flat wound, but so well that I’d need to get out a magnifying glass to see the windings on the B strings. You know how annoying it is when you slide your fingers on guitar strings and you hear that annoying sliding noise? These are completely silent. No sliding noise at all! And the balance between strings is Superb! Because the tension is similar to nylon strings, I can do tremolos similar to with nylon strings. It’s a steel string sound, but round, rather than piercing. If that is what you want with a classical guitar, try them. They cut through a band’s sound much better than nylon strings. (You know how a classical guitar may sound much louder than a steel string guitar alone, but in a band it disappears?)If you play a Parlor Guitar or a O, OO, or OOO guitar, these are definitely the strings you should be using. They are perfect for those guitars, and the word is that they will last a year or more without difficulty. Also, they won’t damage those delicate old guitars. If you play fingerstyle guitar, country blues, ragtime, etc., you should definitely use these. If you want to sound like Stephen Grossman, you should use these.

If you want to use steel strings on your classical guitar, Thomastik KF110 are actually the only option (or at least I don't know any other suitable strings). And why would you want to use steel strings on your classical? Well, you may want to play some folk, Celtic or someother music style where you want to have the steel string sound but at the same time you prefer wide flat 12-fret neck and the classical guitar body shape that is more convenient for fingerpicking. You may think that you could just use regular steel strings made for an acoustic guitar. Well, you can't. Steel strings that have been made for Jumbo or Dreadnought guitars are a lot heavier so they may damage your classical guitar and may not sound good either. Thomastik KF110 are therefore a really useful option because they have been specifically designed for classical guitars.Thomastik produce several types of strings for classical guitars. Normal nylon (classical music, flamenco, etc), steel (KF110 - folk, etc) or some kind of hybrid strings (latin jazz, gypsy jazz, etc). From my experience, almost no website in the world can get this right. Descriptions and pictures don't always match each other so you actually don't know which type of strings you are looking at. I would advise to double check before ordering so you would avoid any misunderstandings. It happened to me that I got something else than I wanted, however the seller was kind enough and fixed this issue for me so I eventually received the correct set. Thanks :-)If you want a wide flat fretboard and steel strings, you can use your classical guitar with KF110.

Thomastik-Infeld make some interesting strings for nylon "classical" strung guitars. This set is the Classic S-Series Flat Wound KF110 & are basically steel strings for a nylon strung guitar. They are not nylon strings. Usually you can't put steel strings on a nylon "classical" guitar because the tension on the neck would be too great, with these you can. Why would you want to? Well that's up to the type of sound you want to have but these will give you a bright clean tone that is quite beautiful They are also as smooth as glass and are easy to the touch.I find that the very thin diameter of the 3 top strings (.010, .014 plain steel & .018 flat wound) strange to get used to & I prefer the KF116 set that are nylon tape wound on rope core & are thicker .016, .024 & .025. But both these sets are thinner than the average nylon set which would be typically .028, .032 & .040.Other things to note on both the S series strings is that they are extremely well made (& should be for the price) they uncoil straight from the packets without curling & have ball ends. Very quick & easy to fit, they sound in tune straight away & dont seem to require days of breaking in like most nylons, staying remarkably in tune from the start. They do however require very tiny amounts of movement from your tuning pegs to tune & are not acoustically particularly loud.Guitar strings are very personal & these are really "Marmite" as in you'll either love them or hate them.If you are a traditionalist who plays mostly classical pieces you probably wont like them but if you play other styles or have an electro nylon guitar you might love them.
