Augustine's History is Guitar History

Augustine Strings' legacy of innovation began over 75 years ago when our founder, Albert Augustine, successfully created the first nylon guitar string at the request of legendary Spanish classical guitarist, Andrés Segovia.

As the inventor and producer of the gold standard of nylon guitar strings, Augustine continues to advance the sonic possibilities of our instrument today with the introduction of the crystal nylon Imperial and Regal lines and the fluorocarbon Paragon sets - all strings of the highest quality, made in the USA, and designed to offer guitarists a full range of options to bring out the best sound and playability from their instrument.

I've tried many other strings over the 40 yrs I've been playing but always go back to the Augustine Blues . The trebles are medium tension and basses are high tension. Reds are medium tension trebles and medium tension basses. Also very excellent strings . Both are very warm and easy to play . I prefer the blue because of the higher tension basses but you can't go wrong with either set .They are NOT gut strings . Augustine was the first company to manufacture a nylon string .

Great sound and playability. The higher tension keeps the strings from buzzing these strings also haven't increased the action by much! I googled what strings did Segovia play and was very happy when I looked at the pack and there was his picture and quotation right on the back. I have yet to see these strings in any of my local guitar shops.

There is no comparison. Augustines are simply the best. Don't let their price fool you, they are an exceptional value. They make my guitar sound like no other. Warm, incredible sustain. They incredibly make me want to practice. They are aso very long lasting. And no, Over received no compensation for this review.

i bought an inexpensive nylon string guitar... just to have. it's pretty and it plays well but it wouldn't stay in tune. a friend suggested better strings. after a couple days playing and letting the new strings stretch and settle... no more tuning problems! and they brightened the sound and improved projection.

These are awesome strings that go very well with my Cordoba C5. They have a really soft and beautiful tone to them. I just replaced my strings with these ones and as soon as I got them in tune and started playing, I fell in love with them. The trebles are sweet and clear as well as the bass strings. I will definitely buy more sets of these but I also want to try other sets. Keep in mind that these Augustine strings or other strings will not match up with every guitar out there. You just have to find the right set that's compatible with your guitar.

I installed these after a few recommendations on my Martin 0018G. The sound, smoothness and clarity is superb. I am a little concerned about the longevity though. My D string was snapped when I opened the case earlier this week. I can say that I think this is the first D string that I have snapped in a LONG time, and I was not even playing! I did order another set (2 this time) and will see how it goes.

I have been trying a lot of different string brands lately and I think that I have settled on this brand and set as my personal favorite, but I haven't tried my Savarez 520's yet. I am using an Antonio Arapicio guitar and am very impressed with the tone quality, volume, and pitch sensitivity that the Augustine Blue labels give me. Volume is definitely stronger than my D'Addario composite strings. With regards to pitch sensitivity, I struggled to keep intonation stable as I went higher on the fretboard with the treble strings when using the D'Addario composite strings and the Augustine Golds. Now that I have tried the Augustine Blue Label I think I managed to find that perfect match for my favorite guitar and all of my intonation issues have gone away.I only have two complaints about the product:- The G string feels a little dead compared to the other strings (a common issue with nearly all strings in my opinion)- The D string that was shipped with my second pack of Augustines was cut a way too short which created additional difficulty in stringing the guitar. There was literally nothing left to trim when I was done stringing the D string. My other Augustine Gold strings did not have this problem so I suspect this was a one-time issue. All in all, I am enjoying these strings. Of course, just because they feel perfect for my guitar doesn't mean they are perfect for all guitars.
