I have now received two of these. I wanted to mount them outside for cold weather accuracy. They don’t register correctly, in fact the first one was stuck and wouldn’t move off of 50 in a 72 degree room. Made in China and just cheap. Sad really.

It's out a couple of degrees but that's OK considering the price. I'm pleased with it and it serves the purpose I bought it for, I'm pleased with it.

Purchased this thermometer a year ago. It lasted about 8 months. It blew away in the wind because it’s so lightweight and flimsy which cracked the front clear plastic. I don’t think it’s worth more than $5-$10 at the most. It was usually decently accurate, and it’s easy to read on the deck railing outside my windows.

I bought this for my 91 year old mother who lives out in the desert and she loves it. She used to have a traditional mercury thermometer hanging on the wall and she would always have to go outside to read the small temperature scale next to the vertical mercury tube. With this one she can just look out the window and easily see what the temperature is without having to go outside. It is installed on the wall in a covered walkway between the house and garage. It is a light product but has been hanging on the wall with a single screw mount and hasn't moved or fallen off in over a year and it does get windy in the walkway. I haven't checked the accuracy against another thermometer but in the desert it gets cold at night and hot in the day. I talk to my mom every day on the phone and the first thing she always says is how hot or cold it is and she will mention temperatures anywhere from the 50s to the 100s depending on the season and time of day. So while it may not be accurate to the exact degree, it does change relative to the outside temperature and is perfect to gauge the temperature.

We put this in our unheated garage, easy to see from a little distance, and seems accurate enough. The first one we received was defective - had no lens cover did the arm did not move. Had to exchange it for another one, which seems to be just fine. Amazon should be more careful about what they ship though, it was obvious the first on had no lens and the temperature reading was non-functioning (the hand stayed at the bottom of the dial, and if functioning would read a temperature, even if cold). Perhaps they are being rushed too much in the shipping department.

As my headline says, this thermometer looks great, and the numbers and the pointer are big enough I can read the temperature from the other end of the lawn, 60 feet away, no problem. As other reviewers have stated, though, the temperature it reports is very inaccurate. Of course, as with any thermometer, you have to place it in the shade, not in direct sunlight, or it will peg the needle at the highest number regardless of the true temperature. But no thermometer of this type, with the bi-metallic spiral that expands and contracts based on the temperature, are accurate. I compared the reading on this product with the readings from two different and highly accurate digital meters, and this Taylor said, for example, 109 degrees when both of the digitals said 106. The Taylor also said 60 when the digitals both said 64.So don't expect precision measurements from this thing. However, I knew and didn't expect that when I bought it. It's a nice looking, easy to read thermometer which gives a rough ballpark approximate of the temperature. Whether it's 109 or 106 outside doesn't really make a heck of a lot of difference. It's still frigging hot!!! If you wan't precision temperature measurements you'd have to spend a lot more than what this Taylor thermometer costs.Overall I'm happy and satisfied enough with my purchase of this item.
