I bought this lens once before, when it was originally released, but returned it shortly thereafter, since I felt it was too heavy and bulky. The sheer dense-ness of the lens turned me off at that time, which proved to be a bad judgement, as you will see below. After waiting a couple of years, I repurchased the lens, but this time around, I decided to ignore the weight and assess it for what it is. This lens is just terrific, both in terms of its range, its aperture and its overall optical excellence. The range starts at 35mm (wide-normal), which to me is perfect, since the ranges wider than 35mm, tend to have a lot of distortions, and thus I prefer avoiding those anyway. Then it moves to 40-50mm (normal) and then onward to where the portrait lengths begin (85mm) and finally onward to 135mm (another perfect long portrait FL) and goes a bit beyond to 150mm. I sold off my 24-70/2.8 and my 70-200 f/2.8, since I barely used those, ever since I started using this extensively. This lens is a one lens to do it all, and having used it extensively, there's no other lens that spends more time on my camera, than this one lens. I take this lens along, wherever I go, and I am totally pleased with it. The sheer dense-ness that turned me off initially, was due to the high quality glass that comprise the lens, and once that aspect dawned on me, I was no longer holding that against the lens.

I previously had the Sigma 24-70 and the 70-200.I do a lot of hiking, camping, and travelling and I hate bringing so many lenses. I decided to risk it and get this Tamron 35-150. And I'm so glad I did! It's an amazing lens. No ragrets. Not a single letter.. now, I need to sell my 70-200 as I don't use it anymore.

This is the only lens I use for photography. It is a big and heavy lens so walking with it around your neck for a long time can hurt, but it takes amazing photos. I hoped to use it for video, but it was too big for my gimble. Handheld video is tough because there is internal lens stabilization and the thing is so heavy its hard not to get some shaky video. But it's a great all-around camera for photos.

If you are looking to buy only one lens or you want to buy a lens that doesn't require you to carry a bunch of other ones for on the go filming, then this is the lens. It has the perfect balance of wide angle and zoom to get by in most filming situations. BUT there is one big flaw. The zoom ring is very tight and very difficult to get a smooth zoom in or out while filming. Sony lenses don't have this issue. This is my big caveat with this lens. I hope over time the zoom ring will lose up but I doubt it will ever be smooth enough to have a smooth zoom in and out transition while filming. One other thing is this lens is very heavy so using it during long shoots while not on a tripod isn't ideal. Overall though I think it is a great lens for the price and for what you get. I used to use the Tamron 24mm to 105mm as my main go to lens but this is now replacing that lens for me due to the zoom and the 2-2.8f aperture.

Sin duda el mejor lente que he tenido en mis manos, he probado bastantes, y la versatilidad que ofrece es una maravilla, además de que no le pide nada a lentes más luminosos o fijos

All I can say is WOW! I purchased the 35-150, to replace my Tamron 281200 zoom. The 28-200 was nice, but never as sharp as I wanted. I used it as my go to travel lens. I have two Sony bodies, the A7iv and the A7Riii. I have used many zoom lenses over the years, mainly for the convenience of not having to change lenses in the field. I currently use a Sony 200-600, for wildlife, which is an outstanding piece of glass. Now back to the Tamron 35-150. I ordered it knowing it would be a heavier lens and it is quite a bit heavier than the 28-200. I have not taken it on long excursions yet, so don't know how fatiguing it will be to carry around all day, especially if I am also carrying the Sony 200-600. The f2.8 will allow me to capture some shots at dawn and dusk, as well in other low light conditions. The five stars I gave it, well, I believe this lens is the absolute sharpest zoom lens I have ever owned. The build quality is excellent. Auto-focus is fast and accurate. I have put it through many tests and the results are phenomenal! This is the case through the entire range from f2.8 through f22. Tamron really hit one out of the park with this lens. Sony needs to catch up with this lens!

If there is only one lens you want to buy for Sony FE mount, this should be top of the list. Having focal length from 35-150 and aperture from f2 - f2.8, makes it a perfect one lens solution that can handle everything from regular snapshots to portraits both in good and low light. One con about this lens is the high price and the weight but considering that it can easily replace both 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses, it is a great alternative.

This is a beast with great potential. Make no mistake about it this not a light lens. I bought it mostly close up photos in nature/people and more. It was bought for more inside or lowlight conditions as well. I have been happy with many random products especially the long term warranty of six years. I am not abusive to my gear so its more for manufacturers defect or inability to keep up for those full six Years. In any case this won't spend much time in my camera pack. It will be one of two cameras and lens pairs in my hand at all times or on my paired suspenders. Btw I am using this lens on a Sony a7rii and a Sony a7 and perhaps my a6000 pair later on overall a great well made lens

My favorite focal lengths are 35 and 85, sometimes wish I had an AF 135. Now it's all in one lens with good large aperture of f/2 - 2.8.Pros: wonderfully sharp from wide open, and is very versatile for my uses.Cons: bokeh is nice and smooth wide open, but when stopped down, the quality of bokeh degrades - I didn't try at every aperture, but found f/8 to become overly busy and with brighter outlines around bokeh balls. The lens is quite large and heavy. So while the focal length is perfect for street photography, it will definitely draw attention. On a a7m4, I found it to be a bit nose heavy, so I got a battery grip to balance it out a bit - results are not bad, but now I end up with a setup just as large as my old full frame DSLR.The zoom ring is reverse to what I'm used to, so that will take some time to get accustomed to.Overall, very happy with this lens. But it does make me look into acquiring prime lenses again for more compact setup.

this thing was pretty expensive. it's also heavy. i bought it with a credit card so i've really been testing it out trying to hate it. if i hate it. the. i can return and feel better about spending money i don't have. i threw it on my a7riii and it has not come off. sure. sometimes i wanna go closer than 35mm. and yes. i want to go past 150. but the range of this lens is perfect. i threw on my sigma 24-70. it came off instantly and the tamron came back on. it's a fun lens. the custom buttons are rad and idk. it's a dope lens. i have my camera with me at all times. i fact it's in my bed next to me right now. if i'm not shooting. i'm not ok. i just ordered the 150-500 from tamron. the build quality is solid. i fell into this black abyss climbing a roof at night to get shots of a fire. and smashed this thing on the ground. nothing happened. i've spilled drinks on it. i use it. and it feels durable. it is expensive. and its pretty damn heavy. i can't tell you to buy or not. i'll be able to tell you after i use this thing until it's dead. i mean. i just got it. i will test it until it breaks.
