The pin came out. Little bend in the pin inside the plastic is all that holds onto the pin. It wasn't enough to hold onto the pin when pulling out of wood. I'm going back to my scratch awl for now until I find a good quality attachment.

I needed this for some interior work on sheetrock walls. Nice and sharp for stabbing sheetrock all day doing layout for wainscot. Especially handy for doing layout in stair wells where you are up and down the stairs and on ladders, just stab it and go. The magnet is pretty strong, but not sure I would trust it on corner bead...haven't really tried it. It also has a nice folding hook, but I didn't use it. If I'm using a hook, then I rather use the one that came with my chalk line. I bought this specifically for the spike and for that it is great. I wish the spike was retractable so it would be a little more friendly to carry or store, so I will just remove it from my chalk line when I'm done with it. I might buy another so I can make lines over really long distances and be able to stand in the middle and snap the line. Indispensable tool for a specific need. Much better than using a nail or screw every time. Like I said, stab and go....

It’s a good idea but how it’s supposed to function with the line is unclear as the packaging diagrams don’t really make sense to me so I’ve been using it like a nail and wrapping the line on to it not tying it onWouldn’t buy again. Love all my other Yakima tools tho

I really like this little tool. I had a coworker with something similar that came in handy on many jobs. So I went looking for one myself. This is the only one I could find, but it's way better than his. This one isn't as bulky, the magnet on it is pretty powerful and it has a built in ring that pops out so you can hook it on a nail or a flat edge like a wall corner. Some sort of cap for the needle end would be nice though. That sucker is sharp.
