Do NOT bother buying the cheaper plastic versions of these pencil holders — take it from me, they WILL break or not securely hold the lumber crayon, sidewalk chalk or carpenter pencil from the very start. NOT worth buying the cheap stuff. Stick with these slightly more expensive but VASTLY better constructed holders that will last you many years.They feel very solid in the hand, have a removable twist-top to insert your writing object, and a compression ring on the writing end that will tighten down on whatever hex-shaped or round-shaped crayon or pencil you put in there.LOVE them!
