You need simple star tools to remove two screws but the unit is excellent and allows my F-150 tailgate to open "Slowly" and smooth instead of dropping uncontrolled, with a thud. Took about 10 minutes to install and has worked flawlessly for the 5 months I have owned it. Would recommend this product and the seller.

I should’ve purchased one of these along time ago. It’s great to just let the big heavy tailgate fall without holding onto it. Only issue I had that kept it from getting five stars is that it does not quite fit the way it should. Had to do a little engineering.

Took less than 20 minutes to install. Very straightforward with minimal effort. Helped tremendously, no more slamming tailgate! I have many Rough Country accessories for both my truck and my side by side! Long lasting and well built. Highly recommend, can’t beat the price! Don’t settle for a cheap part, spend a few extra dollars for quality products!
