We purchased the two pack 22x16 inch pads. Nice static pads with beeper alert. Previous models we have had much wider open area (one inch or more) between the wires, this pad has about 1/2 inch distance, much better to train a cat. I appreciate the multiple levels of both sound and static shocks. Well written instructions too with good illustrations. Our only "issue" was the instruction on how to attach the power controller to pad. Instructions said to place on the side of mat that has the "warning label", however neither pad had a warning label attached. One side has wires "exposed" & the other side has plastic covering the wires. It's the side with the wires that are exposed that you screw the controller onto. The included tester helped prove that point. Now to wait and see if our feline overlords can be trained.

We set these up on our kitchen counters to prevent the cat from climbing all over them. The important thing is to provide at least one space at counter level that they ARE allowed on. The first time she jumped on one of them we were in the room and witnessed it. She DID NOT like the feeling of the “static”, and has not attempted to jump on that specific area again. The second mat she jumped on in the middle of the night, the only reason I knew she did was because the mat was moved in the morning. We used aluminum foil on the smaller sections that the mats didn’t cover. She has not even attempted any countertops after the second time encountering the mats.We sampled the “static” on level 2, it definitely doesn’t feel pleasant but it’s not painful.

Would randomly work. With four and five dogs of various sizes, sometimes it would work for the 140lb Mastiff and not for the Chihuahuas or Frenchton, other times the little dogs would get a little buzz yet the Mastiff wouldn't even set it off.Returned

These pads work well. I adopted a good-natured cat, but as a former stray, he has behavior issues tied to anxiety about food, so he is constantly jumping on the kitchen counters looking for food, even when he has just eaten. He will even do it while I am at the counter preparing his food--he simply can't control it. I bought two of these pads to retrain him to stay off the countertops, and it has worked very well. The pads will do both a beep and a mild electric shock, with five levels of both volume and electric current. You can also set it to just a beep, just electric current, or both, depending on your needs. The battery life/usage (one 9-volt) is good--after 3 weeks, I'm still using the first battery that I installed; the unit blinks every 3-4 seconds when it is on, using very little power until the cat lands on it. The strength of the current isn't excessive; at level 2, it is approximately the same as putting your tongue on a 9-volt battery to check it, and I have never used it beyond level 3 because these settings were enough to do the job. It only took 2-3 times of the cat jumping on it to make him extremely wary of it, and he won't jump on the counter at all now if the pads are there (they don't even have to be turned on--he just won't jump on them). However, he will jump on the counters if the pads aren't there, so I will continue to use them for a while, but I only turn them on during the night and when I am away from home. When I need to use the countertop, the pads roll up easily. One thing to note is that they are extremely sensitive to liquids; if a pad gets wet, it will begin to beep constantly and must be powered down and dried thoroughly before it will function again (use a dry towel and a short period of air-drying). The pad is humane and effective.

Used to keep my dogs off the new couch. Works amazing most of the time. Sometimes it fails to send a shock right away. Have you ever stuck your tongue to a 9 volt battery?? It feels like that but stronger. Strong enough that you don't want it to happen again. Would like it to be heavier/weighted/rubber backed so that it doesn't slide around so easily. I would deff buy again.

We were at our wits end our cats would not stop peeing at the bottom of the stairs we tried everything and nothing worked until I purchased this product. This saved our sanity the cats no longer pee outside of the litter box. I would strongly recommend.

I had a total of 6 of these mats because a couple of my cats use my entire living room as a giant litter box. They are very effective WHEN THEY WORK, and kept the cats from where I didn't want them to go. Unfortunately, 2 of them never worked (Amazon sent replacements), and shortly after placing the other 4, they stopped working over a span of the next few weeks. The batteries are new and the lights are flashing on 2 of them, but they no longer beep or zap when stepped on and my cats are starting to realize that they are no longer functioning and going back to their old habit. The other 2 had to be picked up because they started loudly beeping non-stop and wouldn't stop till I pulled the batteries. Putting the batteries back in just started up the beeping again (was hoping they'd "reset").This would be a 5-star item if they weren't cheaply made junk that costs a lot and malfunctions (or doesn't function at all) within a few weeks of purchase. I'll look for another brand and hope I have better luck.Update 2/24After trying several other brands of this type of mat which either zapped too strongly even on the lowest setting, had the sensors spaced too far apart so they rarely activated, or had other issues that made them unusable, I broke down and bought 2 more of these mats hoping that the company that makes them may have improved their performance. Big surprise! (not really) One of them started beeping incessantly from the minute I put the battery in, the other goes off at random times of the day and night for no reason when no one is anywhere near it. The only thing that's changed about this inferior product is the price, which is higher than the last time I wasted my money on them. This time they're going back.
