About this item

  • Filters for 2 inch telescope eyepieces; reduce the amount of light entering the eyepiece and increase eyepiece contrast
  • Telescope eyepiece filter transmits only 13 percent of the incoming light;boosting contrast and ability to discern detail on the moon
  • Allow for maximum contrast of lunar detail;enhances the contrast of the moon and planets in photographic images
  • Neutral colored optical glass does not change the moon's natural color
  • Have a standard 2 inch filter thread (M48 x 0.75);It's a great birthday christmas gift

Product Description

Polarizing Filter

Application: SVBONY telescope filter 2 inch moon filter Suitable for 2 inch telescope eyepieces

Function: Reducing the amount of light entering the eyepiece, increases the contrast between the moon and the star; allowing you to see more details about the moon and the stars

Design: The appearance is gray, it can pass the linear polarization of the same direction of its polarization through about 80%; and make the linearly polarized light perpendicular to its polarization direction through less than 1%; does not change the moon's natural color

Polarizing Filter

Polarizing Filters are made from optical glass

Polarizing Filters are made from optical glass designed to reduce the amount of light entering the eyepiece. Increase the contrast of the image.

Polarizing Filter

lunar and planetary filter

You can progressively dim the view when observing a bright object, such as the Moon or certain planets, to a level according to your needs, whilst increasing contrast, reducing glare and increasing the amount of detail that can be studied. 2" Linear Polarizer Filter is more suitable for viewing planets and moons

Polarizing Filter

Dimmed the View

Dimmed the view, increasing contrast for telescope eyepiece more wonderful world.

Polarizing Filter

Aluminum material

The frame of the filter is made of metal aluminum. This will make the filter more durable and strong. I believe it will be with you for a long time.

The product description here seems to be generating a lot of confusion. This is a fairly standard 13% transmission moon filter. The description of this filter suggests that it might be a two-piece adjustable polarizing filter, but it’s not. It has only a single element, and although the title doesn’t state it the description reveals that it’s a 13% moon filter (“Telescope eyepiece filter transmits only 13 percent of the incoming light; boosting contrast and ability to discern detail on the moon.”). If you are a beginning astronomer and do have some of the larger 2” eyepieces, this is actually one of the few filters among the dizzying array available that you will actually use. It will help cut down the brightness of the moon for direct moon observation, or to keep astronomical objects near the moon in the night sky from being flooded out by moonlight. Also, this filter fit fine in my Orion telescope eyepiece holder, though apparently the fit is too tight for some other telescopes. Also, note that this filter is only threaded on one side (for screwing into the 2” eyepiece), so you can’t “stack” it with other filters. Performance was exactly what I expected for a standard moon filter at this entry-level price range and a good value — you really can’t expect more for the asking price.

Once attached to eyepiece, doesn’t fit into 2” focuser. Don’t buy. Might as well flush $12 down the toilet.Edited: Svbony contacted me and sent another filter and was very helpful. Great customer service!

The filter looked nice and threaded on to the diagonal and eyepiece well, however if was to large to fit in the scope. It may work with other scopes but my ED100 not so much. I have other Svbony stuff and have been happy this one is just a miss by a tiny bit.

I expect to have to clean used optical devices, but not brand new ones. Oily smudges were present on both sides of the glass. Luckily, I am comfortable with cleaning optics and got it all nice and clean.Once cleaned, I added the filter to the 2”-1.25” adapter for my Lunt solar wedge, and now I can change 1.25” eyepieces to tailor my view of the sun without having to transfer around my 1.25” polarizer.Note, this is not a solar filter, but the Lunt solar wedges let you use a polarizer to dial in the brightness at the eyepiece like you can with theMoon with a two element variable polarizer. The solar wedge acts as one element, this then is the second. So, three stars. One out of five for being dirty when new, five out of five for doing what I wanted it to do, averages to three.I would have liked it more at the lowered price that happened right after I ordered it…

Great value, good quality, really cuts the glare on my low powered binoculars during the day, and at night you can really see the lunar details on a full moon. They also work great at eliminating street light over splash.

This was labeled as a variable adjustment polarizing filter, which is what you would typically use for the moon. To have that variable adjustment, you would need two polarizing plates and rotate them to control their relative orientation. This is just a single, polarized glass. It barely blocks any light, and would be no good for observing the moon. This product is completely misrepresented.

I actually bought this just to use the empty filter cell for a spacer on a 2 inch eyepiece of mine, but the darkness of the filter looks like it will be perfect for planets, so I will keep the filter and use it for planets. The filter cell is all metal construction, and the threads are cut nice and clean. Excellent quality glass on the filter as well. This is a really good deal for a two inch filter. In order to have a true "polarizing filter", I think you will need to order two of them and rotate one. Shipping was faster than I expected due to Covid.
