  • Test UV index of sun light accurately. 1-2,low.3-5,moderate.6-7,high.8-10,very high,11+,extreme.There is no times limitation you can use it.
  • Instantaneous UV light does not immediately harm skin, and only a certain dose can damage skin, depending on the time of exposure. Therefore, we have set up this function to alarm when the UV hurt dose is reached.
  • The UVI meter can alert users to the risk of sunburn at the source. While sunscreen requires uniform application of 2 milligrams per square centimeter of skin to achieve optimal results. Additionally, sunscreen needs to be reapplied regularly, especially after swimming, sweating, or towel drying, as these activities can cause the sunscreen to wear off and reduce its protective effect. It is generally recommended to reapply every two hours.
  • Small size, convenient to carry. Suitable for outdoor activities such as playing at the beach, camping, etc.
  • Energy-saving, one AAA alkaline dry battery can insure this sunburn detector to be used for one year.

We test UV Index. other than W/m²

UV Index is a comprehensive indicator that takes into account the varying effects of different wavelengths of UV light on human skin. Specifically, the UV Index is calculated by weighing the potential skin damage caused by UV radiation, particularly in the UVB range (280-315nm), which is more harmful to the skin and therefore receives a higher weighting in the calculation.

Using just the W/m² value might not accurately reflect the impact of UV radiation on human health because different wavelengths of UV light cause varying degrees of skin damage. For example, while UVA (315-400nm) radiation causes less skin damage, it might have a higher power density, which could mislead consumers into underestimating the harmful effects of UV exposure if only W/m² is considered.

Therefore, testing for UV Index can better represent the true risks posed by UV radiation to the skin, rather than just measuring power density. By choosing UV Index as a metric, you are aligning your product with a measure that is more directly related to skin health and more suitable for its intended application.

As clouds move across the sky, the UVI fluctuates with the changes in cloud cover and gaps. AH-Sunvui can test UV dose that is much better for you.

We don't agree the review subject of "Very inaccurate", because of the variation of broken clouds.

For another review to use AH-Sunuvi to compare a UV card under a UV light, we must state that AH-Sunuvi is only use to test the UVI of sunlight.

BOTTOM LINE:1. I recommend this AquaHorti-Sunlight UV Index Meter.2. The current price of ~$37 is reasonable.LIKES:- White so it doesn't overheat in the sun.- Easy enough to operate, but it does require skimming the instructions.- Very cool that it measures the UV ray intensity. It is a dose meter, meaning it combines the UV intensity with the time exposed, based on skin type. Very very useful for keeping track of sun exposure. I don't like sunscreen and this little unit helps me manage the best of both worlds, sun exposure with the benefits, and without getting a sunburn which is when it is no longer safe.DISLIKES:- Not rechargeable, requires batteries.- Not waterproof.

This is useful, just remember that if you set it and still get a sunburn then you need to set it lower until you no longer do! And remember, it's easier to get a sunburn early in the season than it is later in the season, so adjust accordingly.

This is just what our family needs to maximise our time outdoors without overly risking skin cancers. Small enough to keep in a purse.

5 Sterne

This does meter is simple enough to use. You turn it on, set it to your skin UV tolerance (Low, Med, high) and then place it outside with you. Not as easy as something like a wearable would be though. My unit didn't have the color chart on the bottom. Unit seemed to agree with the local forecast for UV index on the day I tested. I tested against very bright artificial white LED lights (shouldn't have UV) and it measured Zero. Florescent lamp measured low values 0.3 or so. LED black light (UV) measured 9 at close distance. Hard to claim accuracy against UV index based on that, but it seems to be an actual UV sensor.

I have a new UV bulb in a terrarium. The UV testing card shows very high UV level, but this shows 1.2-1.4 at the same spot. I guess as long as it stays consistent it doesn't really matter, but I don't know how much this would help you if you're using it for sun exposure.

This is a neat little UV alarm. You can set your tolerance to low, normal, or high, and it alerts you when too much UV is reached.I have no way of testing or determining if this is accurate, but the number increases under more intense sunlight. Comes with the battery required.

Tested in the bright desert with a high UV index. Barely went up to "4" on a clear sunny day. Tested in a cloudy forest and it went up to 7. Either mine is defective or the unit is measuring the wrong way. Good in theory but this unit hardly works. Seems to just be a light brightness detector and not UV.

Got this for my daughter to limit her sunbathing sessions on our deck to a reasonable amount of time. She likes to spend hours in a reclining chair during the hot summer days often falling asleep in the scorching sunlight. This device runs on 1 AAA battery (included). LCD screen shows current numeric or digital exposure level and L, M or H letter level for cumulative (low, medium, high) exposure threshold. Once the selected cumulative exposure threshold value is reached the device starts beeping. Level and power state are controlled by two buttons on the bottom cover near the battery compartment.
