I have wanted one of these manual sweepers ever since kindergarten when we had a red manual sweeper in the room and got to take turns sweeping with it as room chores. I thought it was just the neatest thing that you didn't have to plug it in! Fast forward to my adult years and I now have my own little manual sweeper! I'm showing my age with being excited over a sweeper but this thing is really neat! It's well made and actually works! I use it around the kitchen and around my cats litterbox when she launches pieces of litter everywhere. It picks everything up so nicely! I'm very impressed with it! It's great for little touch up jobs where you don't really need to lug out the big vacuum or make a ton of noise to sweep up a little mess.

At 9 x 6.5 inches, this carpet sweeper is quite a bit smaller than the one I remember from childhood. However, it has the perfect width for cleaning stairs and picks up dirt surprisingly well. I initially got it to keep it by the most frequented litter box and it picks up cat litter very well. Since it is so light and small I find myself also running it quickly over the stairs or doing a quick run in the kitchen instead of getting the vacuum cleaner. The only downsides I have found are that the wheels do not swivel and to get into the corners you have to clean towards the wall and then along the wall. The other issue is when the dustpan gets fuller and you bump the sweeper you may drop some of the dirt out of the bin.I would not say that it is a full replacement for a vacuum, especially if you have pets. However, for quick cleans in between vacuuming, it picks up dirt and hair very well.

This tends to work somewhat well on tall, non-compressed carpet. Occasionally, though, it will spit out some of the contents that were previously picked up. It's great for the quick daily clean-up and practically a must have around 3D printers where tons of little shavings break off in the wipe process. As long as the pieces are somewhat small, this picks up really well. Scraps of paper, small bits of plastic, some playground sand, etc. I would still trust a good vacuum to pull the deeper items up from within the carpet and to pull up items from the slicker carpets (I have some compressed spots with higher traffic that this sweeper didn't do as well on). But now the floors look fairly clean through the week without needing to haul the heavier vacuum into the rooms. One real complaint about this is the handle. It doesn't screw or tighten onto the pole, so it's constantly slipping off or slipping around loosely enough that I can't get a really good grip. I might superglue this together to prevent that, but this is what I would consider a design flaw.Follow-up: two weeks later - I superglued the handle on the top after tightening all the rods and it’s much easier to work with, now. It still has the limitations based on the laws of physics - but now it’s easier to maneuver.
