I used these to make a set of file guides for knife making. They are not perfectly flat, but for the price and my needs they are good enough. I checked for light between the 2 pieces in different orientations to find the truest surfaces. They work great, Ive used them for hand filing sharpening choils as well as plunge lines on my 2x72 and havent even taken a scratch. Like I said, they are good enough for my needs and feel flat to the touch, but if you need precise pieces for any type of machining or precision measuring processes then you may want to look into a higher quality/ more expensive set.
