Dock ist standfest, da etwas tiefer gebaut. UAS Übertragung per USB-A ca. 450 MB/s, also gut. UAS scheint vernünftig umgesetzt, jedenfalls sehe ich keine Fehler im syslog wie ich es bei einem anderen alten Dock hatte. Bin sehr zufrieden.

Works pretty well, no problems so far. One thing that bugs me is that docked drives have a bit of tilt to them. Seems like the could add a plastic or rubber bumper inside to level out plugged in drives.

First and foremost the hard disk plugged into this Startech HDD dock has always been the limiting factor in transfer speeds so long as it is connected to a USB 3.1 port. I like having the on/off button on top of the dock at the front and it is very stable even when used with a heavy hard disk. I don't find the using the eject button to lift a hard disk off of the connector any easier than not using it..

Note that you will quite likely be limited to a 1m/3ft cable length if you want to take advantage of the 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 speed this dock is rated for. In fact, I have not been able to locate any 10 Gbps rated USB cable longer than 1m, let alone one that has the full-sized Type-B connector that is needed for use with this dock. A 1m Type-A to Type-B cable is included in the box with the product. From my understanding, this cable length limitation is a limit of USB and not a limitation of this product. Just be aware of it and aware of the resulting limitation on the dock’s placement within your environment should 10 Gbps connectivity be a priority for you. Also don’t forget that the SATA bus of the hard drive you have in the dock is only rated for 6 Gbps. Therefore if you drop down to the 5 Gbps speed of a USB 3.1 Gen1 connection for a longer cable, you’re really not giving up an enormous amount of rated speed potential.

It is not difficult to remove my drives from the dock. I could get only about 130MBs. I could get about 160MBs with another dock, but it is not easy to remove my drives from the dock. Hence I am unable to have speed and easy-to-use using the same dock.

Let me start by saying I love StarTech equipment. I have used their hard drive docks, cables, network rack mounts, etc. for years. Unfortunately, this StarTech.com USB 3.1 (10Gbps) Single-Bay Dock is not ready for prime-time.I bought it with high hopes of speedy transfers over my desktop computer's USB 3.1 (Gen2) or 10gbps connection. The dock connected to the computer fine under Windows 10 Pro. When copying to a 3.5" Seagate Exos 8TB enterprise hard drive, I had no problems copying large (500-800GB) files, although the transfer speed was slow compared to SSDs.The main purpose of buying this dock was to easily connect both SATA SSDs and SATA fixed drives. When using a Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD, I could not reliably transfer a file through the dock. The transfer would randomly fail at different points, anywhere from 3 minutes to 15 minutes into the operation. This same SSD had ZERO problems copying the same file over a StarTech SATA to USB-A (USB 3.1, gen2, 10gbps) adapter cable, with typical transfer rates of 470-480MB/s.After several attempts, I'm afraid I'm going to have to return it, which is unfortunate, as I really wanted to like it.Bottom line: The StarTech.com USB 3.1 (10Gbps) Single-Bay Dock works for fixed platter, 3.5" hard drives, but not SSDs, for stable file transfers over a USB 3.1 (gen2) connection.

This was the only USB 3.1 toaster that I found. Also, I like that the power button is on the front, because I use this with a backup drive and don't keep it on when I'm not backing up. I've never had a bad StarTech product.

I had the previous model of this dock with the fan, but it was only USB 2.0 and seemed to have a lot of trouble with my new PC that had all USB 3.1 ports. So I bought this in hopes it would be more compatible, and it is. It works just like it should. I sort of miss the fan but current drives and SSD are so low power they don't overheat just in open air. I have no trouble inserting the drives as another reviewer mentioned. 3.5" or 2.5" go in with no problem at all. Also, StarTech's tech support was very prompt and helpful when I was trying to resolve the issue with the previous dock.

Fast transfer, takes my hard drive to its maximum output of 180Mb/s. Well built and I like the on/off button on the top. The only downside is the length of the USB cable, it's a bit short especially if you have to plug it into the back of your computer.
