I purchased a new Dorman purge valve in hopes of solving a recurring engine light. Well it didn’t work. I purchased this Standard purge valve and guess what? No more engine light. The Dorman part was defective.

This unit fits as it should and works as it should. The evap codes cleared after I put this and an evap pump in.

Neighbor has a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Jk that has several EVAP codes. The codes are as follows:P0440 & P0443. p0440 is a general evap trouble code while P0443 is a purge valve “circuit” issue, meaning it’s not a leak but rather an electrical issue. Customer had replaced the purge valve with what he claimed was OEM ( I later found out it was a Dorman part made in China…. Chased my tail assuming this valve was good until I deceived what the hell, test don’t guess… Sure enough valve was bad. While I was at it I smoke tested the system as the P0440 didn’t seem to be wanting to go away with countless drive cycles. And guess what I found…… smoke rolling out of the passenger side top gas tank area! There is a EVAP distribution valve that’s white and has 3 connections. The one that exists on the passenger side developed a crack in the nipple of evap line and was leaking (thus P0440). Apparently this is a very common place for them to leak. I snapped the nipple off, sanded it flat, cleaned it with lacquer thinner and found a steel roll pin to reinforce the nipple once glued on. There are countless YouTube videos on this if you don’t understand exactly how to get her buttoned up. Let it all cure and did a few more drive cycles following the procedure for Jeep/chrysler with my bi directional scan tool connected. About 30 mins later NO CODES!!!!! Customer hadn’t been able to register this vehicle for two years. He just PASSED smog and is over the moon happy. Smoke machines are a vital tool when diagnosing most evap system issues. Also, I’ve had good luck with standard products like this one for Jeep/Chrysler. It’s made in Mexico, not CHINA which is reassuring. Cheers 🍻

Purchased a Dorman version first and check engine light did not go away. Spent many hours looking for cracked hoses and chasing wires. Turns out the Dorman product was defective and to much time passed for a return. Installed this one and emissions light went away.

Took about 10 minutes to install. And that was only because taking the clips off the original part was a pain. Once they were off, the actual install took about 45 seconds. Fits exactly like OEM. No reason not to do it yourself.Had a check engine light and after verifying it wasn’t a defective gas cap, I decided to replace this canister. FYI; I disconnected my battery before swapping it out and after reconnecting with new part installed, light was off and stayed off.Easy peasy.

Perfect fit for 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Installed in less than 5 minutes. Just push toggle on electrical connection, pull, pull two hoses off, move hose connections to new part, plug everything back in, done. Too easy and cheap not to perform first with a P0456 code, then see if it reoccurs.
