God reliable plane. Perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing as a lever cap model, but does the job as well at a lower price. In my opinion the plane iron seems to be the equal of those in higher-priced planes.

First thing is that this plane feels like high quality. It's easy to take apart and setup when you need to sharpen and fits nicely in the hand. The weight is nice for this size of plane. Great for the pro of hobbyist!

I must have gotten a good one. Mine didn't take much work to set up. This is my first hand plane. I have used them from time to time but never owned one. I got this to use as a scrub plane. Once I got it I took it apart to check and clean up the casting and milling and such. Everything is fine. Some very minor touch ups. The sole came fairly flat and it took no time to straiten that out. Lapped it on 80-150-220 grit sand paper. The handle was a little crudely carved but again that was easily fixed with some sandpaper.I have an old really thick cutting broad made from an bowling alley lane. Over the years the center dished. I used this plane as a scrub plane, what would have take hours with sander only took a few minutes. I probably removed about an 1/8 to level everything out. I've decided to get another iron to set up normally for smoothing. So that this can do double duty as a finishing and scrub plane. I'm very happy. I do wish the rear handle was a bit chunkier to fit my hand a little better. But all in all that is not a big deal.

I'm a fairly inexperienced wood worker, and this is only my second hand-plane. All-in-all I really like it, especially over the prospect of paying $100+ for other options. For context, the first one I got was a harbor freight. That one took a lot of work to be usable, and even then is still eh on ergonomics and adjustments. This plane also takes a lot of work to get it working really well, but in my case it was mainly just two areas. 1. I had to basically recreate the blades edge from scratch and 2. the sole was way out of flat. Both are very tedious and, if you're a beginner like me, probably means going through a lot of sandpaper. For the sole, I'd recommend starting out with a really low grit (like 80) and then finishing off with 120. As for sharpening from brand new, check out Rex Kruger or Paul Sellers on youtube, they have much better guide for that than I could ever give here.Once mine was in good shape, I found I really appreciated the quality of the adjustment components and the ergonomics. It feels very sturdy and in my opinion pleasing to the eye. As for a recommendation, I'd say it's a definite yes. If you're going to use hand planes, I feel like knowing how to maintain/restore them is part of the experience, and at least with this one you get a nice product afterwards. I don't see myself replacing this tool for a very long time, and if I wanted an easier option, I'd have just gone with power planer.

Melhor custo benefício no mercado brasileiro. Acabamento excelente.

So I bought two of these planes, and the first was pretty good overall, especially for the price. However, the second one I got was irredeemably deformed and couldn't be saved. For one, the sole was thicker on one side, which is a fatal flaw unless you want to spend a week grinding. The blade was not straight and had defects in a couple of places. I am not sure how this one got away since the first plane was not bad. I gave 3 stars because the first one was good, but the second was a disaster that should not have happened. Quality control can really ruin an otherwise decent product.

Used and owned various planes in the past, both as a professional and DIY. Used this to plane some doors which were not fitting properly. It allowed me to get the doors to fit and look correct. Extremely sharp blade, which makes light work of the job.Well constructed and easy to adjust the blade. To remove the blade for cleaning and sharpening, all that's required is a flat head screwdriver. Would recommend that you clean and dry if used outside, as being constructed from steel, it would rust up if left wet. Yes well worth the price, and definitely recommended

For the price its fantastic I paid $21.76 including tax and shipping! I have been experimenting with these modern hand planes from India under various names Grizzly, Draper and Spear & Jackson.I think there is a larger degree of variability with many of these planes from India, some are better machined and made and require a little less work. This plane by S & J was one such plane? It required the least amount of work out the 3 recent planes I have gotten. They all require flattening the sole and this was no exception just that it was closer to flat to start with. The blade and chipbreaker weren't bad either and was able to flatten and sharpen them in short order. I did not check the side squareness to sole since I had not planned on using it on a shooting board. The handles were nicely finished a bit more like the handles from Grizzly they were nicely shaped and finished with only like light oil or wax finish which is the way I prefer them, you can actually feel the wood this way. I had to fuss with the plane a little to get the blade and mouth adjusted properly but then it would take nice shavings, I may convert the plane into a scrub plane with a convex sharpening of blade? Overall very worthwhile plane! and I might look and see about ordering other sizes of S&J?

Esteticamente bella..
