Nice speaker. Easily connected to phone etc. Definitely not a portable speaker. It's a beast!

Nice built quality. Clear Sound. Perfect for Parties. It connects to smart TVs through BT and can be used as wireless home theatre.

I really love the sound quality. Pump up the volume and start the party. Battery last all night long and more.

XV900 reviewI would give it 2 stars, but I can't do a separate review when they merge products on Amazon.Sound quality is ok, but only directly on axis. More than about 10 degrees off axis and the sound is muffled and indistinct. The extra "tweeters" add some extra sense of air (upper treble) but do not help clarity. Vocals are difficult to understand. The workaround is to prop the thing up at an angle and stay a good distance away from it to stay in that 20 degree sweet spot.Bass response is surprisingly poor. There is ample mid-bass (40-80hz) and upper bass (80-160hz) but nothing in the first octave (20-40hz). The port is tuned to about 39hz, and there is an electronic cutoff below that to prevent the woofer cone from flailing around. No deep bass out of a large haevy speaker like this just makes it sound like a small speaker.Portability is terrible. It weighs 58 pounds, and it is large enough to be awkward to handle. The wheels are tiny, and do little on carpeting. It is easy to carry trunk style, or it would be if it had a handle on the bottom. I was carrying it around by laying it on its back, like a trunk, then grabbing a top handle with one hand, and jamming the other hand into a bottom port and grabbing an edge inside. I could not carry it far this way because that inner edge is kinda sharp, and I could not get my hand inside the port with a glove on. The bottom is just flat slippery plastic. This was the only way that I could get it up and down stairs. The light show looks like an afterthought. The lights are pretty weak, especially since they decided to reflect them off black plastic. The lights are not timed to or triggered by the music. That made them really annoying, so I just left them off.I gave up and sent the thing back. It is not good enough for music anywhere in my house, or even outdoors. I guess it could be used with a TV if you are trying to use the internal speakers of the particular TV. Even then Sony recommends leaving the TV speakers on as well. I can hear why.As a party speaker I would be embarrassed to show up with this thing. Lackluster sound quality will only get worse with a bunch of bodies around it. otoh it would be ok sitting around a campfire. You will need a hand truck or a bike trailer to move it around outdoors. Also, unlike other Sony party speakers, it is not IPX rated, so take a tarp in case it rains.Positives: it does connect using the LDAC codec, and the control panel is very nice. Also the top is nice and flat, so a great place for people to set/spill drinks!Original XV800 reviewFor reasons that I cannot fathom they put the tweeters on the back, but mids and woffers on the front. This thing sounds awful from any angle! I guess if you want lots of noise in a very echoey room, it might work? Otherwise I would say steer clear of the XV800. I will never order another Sony product without listening to it first.

Bought the smallest version for my step-dad once he received it I was amazed by the sound quality and decided to buy the xv800 for myself, not to small and not to big, just the perfect size, so far so good.

I bought this for our garage/ home gym. I’ve had one of the Ion speakers and they are good for what you pay for but I wanted a cleaner sound and more bass. This Sony exceeded my expectations. It’s very clear and has plenty of boom. I can’t even turn it up because it’s going to piss all the neighbors off. When I first got it I experimented with it, playing various types of music. It sounds like it’s in the room with you throughout the whole house. What I like is on a very low volume you still get clear notes and deep bass. Turn it up and it’s remains crisp and clear and the bass will shake the house. Very happy with this unit. Though I won’t be using it often as a portable stereo it is beyond what I was looking for for our home gym.

TLDR: The sound is very clear and mixes well with the bass. The bass from the GTK-XB90 is loud and hard but the bass from the XV900 is deeper and more broad. Honestly it’s very impressive and worth every flippin’ pennySo, my first taste ever in these series of speakers was the SRS-XB40, basically my gateway. God I loved the sound and bass that came from it. It’s amazing how clear the sound was from a little package like that. Anyway. People loved it and were impressed with the speaker when I used it in high school. Fast foward a couple of years and I barely find out that they made a bigger versions of my speaker I wanted to get em! Got the biggest, the GTK-XB90, and this speak sealed my love for them. The bass really punches hard and would be crystal clear! Gosh it was amazing the years I’ve had it. Now its all worn out and the bass still kicks. But it’s not in its prime anymore. So I waited , praying that they’ll make another series of these impressive speakers. Then low and behold, they did. The 700 and 900 were eventually out. Of course I wanted to get the biggest, again. And man. When it got here. It was a lot bigger than I though. The size and design was definitely a huge upgrade from its predecessor. This thing freaking ROARS compared to the XB90. The bass is booming and yet you can still hear the lyrics quite clearly. All in all, this speaker is an absolute beast and will definitely have you yearning for its luring quality.BUY IT NOW
