Advertisement is for a new product the pictures show it still in packaging, and nowhere in the product listing does it say used or refurbished. When product was received it was in a box with eBay tape, inside it was wrapped in bubble wrap taped with eBay tape and then balled up in brown paper. When we tested it, the rewind does not work and the battery springs are so worn down that there is no tension within the battery pack. There were scuffs on the back from use as well.

I got to listen to where I had recorded the Growth of Milpitas, and North San Jose, CA.3Com, VTA and Land. Lots of Beautiful Natural Grasses on 237...Now it's even more amazing.Microsoft is now atCA-SR 237/Highway 101...Wow!! Just in 20 years..Or so...

I've used versions of this Sony for many years, so I am very familiar with the device. I prefer it to phone apps or digital recorders because it's the simplest and safest to use for intermittent dictating while I'm driving---one-step, one-handed use without taking my eyes off the road. This recorder recorded once, for a few seconds, with very poor play-back quality. That was it. It would not record any more. It did playback information that had been previously recorded on the tape, (on a different Sony recorder), with fair quality. I had poor luck with another used Sony microcassette recorder that I recently purchased from another vendor on Amazon. It worked for about one week before it would no longer record or rewind.

Worked like a charm. My old one would jam and no longer record or play, and this worked great for a couple of tapes that I had important recordings on, and could not lose. Only problem was that it took 10 days to receive.I am switching to the digital age w/ a Sony Digital Recorder, so I won't have to deal a mechanical problem in the future, plus it transfers all recordings to "MP3" files, which is so much easier. I will keep the Microcassette Recorder though as it is good for permanent records.
