New micro cassette players are expensive. This refurbished model totally meets my needs and was reasonably priced at $105. New units are over $300. I’m a law graduate and I needed a micro cassette player to access old case notes.

Mechanically, the unit is sound. I'd not hesitate to purchase a refurbished item again. It arrived promptly and was well-packaged. But the design of this hand-held makes it difficult to use the unit comfortably. Let me explain: For decades, I used a Dictaphone unit. It was designed for comfortable one-hand use. It was simple to pause while collecting my thoughts and then resume. I didn't have to "think about it." This Sony model doesn't share that characteristic. So, to summarize, if ease of use and being able to effortlessly start and stop the dictation process doesn't matter to you, I'd get this one in a hurry. Otherwise, if at all possible, "try before you buy." In the long run, that's the only way to determine if you'll be happy.
