My old unit for zone B 3D discs was failing. Didn’t know if I’d find any units still available to replace it. Did research online and decided to go for this one even though $200 was a significant outlay. Glad I did! This one did great, worked fine right out of the box for zone B dvd, zone B blu ray, and zone B 3D blu ray. Switching region is very easy (see attached sheet) from the remote. Gives an excellent picture, particularly for 3D. Very satisfied!

This is my 2nd one of these, I’ve only used it as a disc player before because it’s hooked up to a fire tv but I got this one for my projector. Although the product description say 100s of apps you can only use Netflix, prime, YouTube and a few apps I’ve never heard of so that is a lie. Still as a disc player it works great just dissatisfied I can only stream prime and Netflix.

You have to follow the special instructions to put the player in different region modes. It does not appear to be a well integrated feature, but rather seems more of an aftermarket add-on. But it does work.

Works perfectly. Seamless playing of DVDs from any region and a single button press to ensure any blu-ray region is also pkayable. So far so good....

When it came time to replace our old blu ray this was a no brainer for me. Our old one still works but we’re having a few issues with it. Technology changes and so after 8 years I know it’s just a matter of time before it just gives out, it’s still in use in a bedroom. Now with the new one. It has been great. I definitely like the upscaling because it does make a difference. Just plug and play and was connected to our Wi-Fi in less than a minute. I’m just hoping that longevity isn’t lost with newer technology. I’m the type that doesn’t make quick decisions on this type of purchase and am very pleased with that I did.

This player crashes the audio when playing a DVD, sometimes 3 or 4 times on one DVD, and I have to restart it when it does that. I tried to return the player, but Amazon would not take it back because when I installed it, and became aware of the problem, it was past the 30 day return window for "Deals." So they referred me to Sony Warranty, and Sony Warranty would not honor the warranty because it was "used or refurbished or returned".. So I spent $216 on a "deal," but it was a "bad deal" as it turned out. However it does work with streaming.

I started a return on this item because at first it was nonfunctional, and I may still return it. They caution the purchaser that it may take a while for it to start, but I gave it well over 5 minutes before deciding it was a dud and that the HDMI cable which came with it worked far better than it did.I gave it another chance over a week later, after trying to juggle work & social obligations, and lo & behold, it turned on. Seller cautions purchaser to make sure "QuickPlay" is turned off in Settings, but as far as I could tell, that was already the default. It plays my BluRays very well, and my DVDs well enough. However, it could *not* play the "back-up" features on one DVD so far. It is advertised as being able to play mkv as well as avi files, but as far as I can tell, it can not. If the instructions which come with it says it will only play such files with all sorts of caveats and exceptions (cryptically named with initials and acronyms), then, effectively, it just can't play such files. One should not have to be a computer expert in order to plug in a BluRay player and watch one's video files.Lastly, for some reason, when the power is turned on the BluRay player, it immediately turns on the TV. Not a problem, and not unusual for an HDMI cable to do such a thing, but for some reason, it defaults the TV to a channel 4 setting which renders me unable to get my "source" option screen for any other player, computer, etc. I then have to turn on something else and do a bit of gymnastics on my remote to get it back to channel 3. In the future, I will try to remember to do those gymnastics as soon as I turn off the BluRay player so I'm not caught flat-footed later. In short, I'm a bit dissatisfied, and wish I had bought a Samsung instead. But it feels like too much trouble to do anything else now.
