It seems to work just as intended, to clean the tip of your soldering gun. You get a nice pile of some brass shavings, and at the bottom is a layer of rosin, maybe about a quarter inch across the whole bottom. The container is metal, clear plastic window on the lid, and the whole thing weighs about 2.6 oz.

The solder that doesn't come off on the sponge definitely comes off in this stuff. It's been way too long that I've gone without this stuff, but now I finally have it here. Makes things so much easier, so much cleaner. I love it. My soldering was suffering without this stuff. It's like having steel wool ready to scrape off the residue. I love that it comes in a can with a lid - so handy.

Metal cleaning sponge for your soldering iron in a metal can with a lid. There is some rosin flux in the bottom you can dip your tip into to help clean the oxidation off. I haven't really needed the rosin to clean the tip, but good to have it there if needed. This is a necessity for good soldering and the price is reasonable.

I found the cleaner to work quite well and cleans the tip of my iron quite well with just a few strokes. I think it actually works better than the brass cleaner that came with my Hakko; it’s a finer wire and feels a bit softer. I have never used a cleaner with Flux Rosin before, I usually just put flux on the parts that I’m soldering, but dipping the tip in this rosin seems to aid in cleaning as the tip is quite shiny and the solder flows a little better to the part after occasionally dipping the tip in the flux. I’m quite happy with this wire cleaner.

Tossed my old solder iron, as it was old, didn't seem to work, the tips were blackened. Apparently you have to take care of the tips ... Got a new iron, and I'm turning a new leaf and will be taking care of it, and so I go this to help me do just that. Only had a couple of needs to solder anything since receiving, but cleaning during / after soldering with the steel wire does get the tip looking clean / shiny. The solder did stick on my LED copper connections, which seemed impossible before getting a new iron, so hopefully related to keeping it clean, which I will be doing all the time now.

I've had problems with my tips being dirty on my soldering iron, my son suggested I get one of these, and boy was it worth it. Makes it very easy to clean off my soldering tip between solder joints so I'm not dragging solder or making messy joints

This is basically a small metallic sponge that's in a can. The main thing it does is that due to the surface area of metal, it can suck up excess solder from your soldering iron. This does just fine, and the metal used doesn't melt at the same temperature obviously as solder and you can wipe it off on it. At the bottom of the can there's some flux or specifically rosin, which is if you need it to help clean off the iron better. That being said, I supply my own flux and don't use it. Overall, it's a basic product but does what it says it does and I'd recommend it.

This looks like a scrubber from the grocery store stuffed in a can with trash resin.
