This is a nice soldering set that comes in hard plastic case. The soldering iron has an ON/OFF button and temperature control. Set includes a decent amount of solder, a nice de-soldering tool, a stand, set of tips and some flux. Totally worth the money.

I bought this simple tool to use in rewiring electric guitars, and it works very well. It's not industrial grade or a tool one would use all day every day, but for the occasional job it's quite useful. The price is good, and I would buy this again. If I become a professional luthier, I'll buy a more expensive and more sophisticated version. When I was a kid I built simple radios, so I had some experience with soldering irons. For a beginner, this soldering iron is an excellent choice.

This kit is most definitely worth the price. It comes with everything you need to get soldering or even desoldering. The soldering gun itself was great. It heated up to the selected temperature quickly and was easy to adjust on the fly.The three negative points that stood out to me when utilizing the entire kit was the poor quality of the solder sucker pump, the tip cleaning sponge, and the grip on the solder gun. The solder sucker is okay until the 5th or 6th use, where it quickly begins to clog up inside leading to poor suction and tiny fragments of solder to be released. The sponge doesn't clean very well; with or without water. And the grip easily slides up and down when holding the gun.Overall though, this kit is great for beginners and with the cheap price it can't be beat.

UPDATE: I included a couple of photos of 18, 16, 14, and 12 gauge wire before and after soldering with this iron. I did not use the included solder, as I don't think it works that well for heavier gauge wire like 14 or 12 gauge. Instead, I used Kester 60/40 .050 solder that you can get right here on Amazon. And while you can use the large knife tip to accomplish what I did, I highly recommend getting larger tips if you are going to do larger soldering projects or heavy gauge wire. You need to match the tip to the job, large pieces need a large tip. Excessive heat is not going to make soldering easier. In fact, it will vaporize the flux very quickly and make it more difficult. I used a 5.2mm chisel tip to do these wires. You can find a pack of 5 here; (just copy and paste or do a search for 900M 5.2mm soldering tips) https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-900M-T-S3-5-2mm-Chisel-Soldering/dp/B008J80YLA/ref=pd_ybh_a_9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=HY6ZC252G21GETZK9ZJX Or you can get another assortment pack that includes a 5.2mm chisel tip, a very large bevel tip, and an extra long narrow chisel and conical tip. You can find them here; https://www.amazon.com/Soldering-Tabiger-X-Tronic-Station-Different/dp/B077V1VND5/ref=pd_ybh_a_20?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0RTTGPXXGG8KPSC79NTR_____________________________________________________________This iron works great for the light to moderate use I will do with it. It heats pretty quickly. Has an adjustable sleep timer, and all you have to do is pick up the iron to wake it up, and in a short time it will be back up to temperature. So be sure to turn it off when you are finished. I was able to solder 12 gauge wire without a problem, and it did it quickly when set at 600 degrees F using the long edge of the knife tip. Smaller gauge wire can be done at lower temperatures. I used Kester 60/40 rosin core solder which is extremely good solder. It takes standard 900M series tips which can be found easily here on Amazon. I prefer to work mostly with "bevel" or "screwdriver" tips, so I got those to use now. If you plan on soldering wires and/or electronics, pick up some rosin flux for electronics to make your soldering much easier. And make sure to coat the tip with solder before putting it away to keep it from oxidizing. If I have any problems I will update my review.

Arrived on time and undamaged. Used this iron for basic tasks such as soldering stranded wire to component lugs for electronics projects, and connecting a pigtail to a vehicle harness after squirrels chewed through the factory harness. The iron performed well. It heats quickly (less than 1 min). Increasing the temp by several degrees yielded enough heat to flow solder into the larger gauge conductors in the vehicle harness. I'd been looking at soldering stations and decided on this b/c its compact and cost effective. I haven't used it for very long (probably just an hour of working time over several weeks), but I'm pleased so far.

My main goal was to find a soldering iron with finer tips than the Weller iron that I already own. This unit came with several fine tips so the adjustable temp and accessories were just icing for me. It heats up very quickly, maybe quicker than the weller unit. I like that this has a heavy duty grounded cable while the weller on has a thin ac/dc adapter. Only time will tell if the iron holds up but so far I’m very happy with the product for the price.

My only previous experience with soldering was with one of those $5 super crappy, non-temperature-controlled irons that takes several minutes to heat up, so this was a nice upgrade from that. Or at least it was a nice upgrade until it randomly stopped working after only ~two months.GOOD:- Temperature adjustable- Heats up quickly (5-10 seconds to 350 degrees Fahrenheit)- Good for beginners because it has several helpful accessories that a newb probably does not have (tweezers, different tips, solder sucker)BAD:- The blue hand grip always slides up the handle while using it, so you must regularly slide it back into place.- The cord is heavy, so it can pull on the iron while it is on the stand. You have to be careful to make sure it does not tip over.- The solder sucker has clogged up on me two of the three times I have used it.UGLY:- After ~two months of usage, it stopped working. I used it last night, and when I took it out this afternoon, it simply would not turn on. The screen will not turn on, and the iron will not heat up.
