Handy set to have around. The lid on the tin can be punched out to make the scrubby more convenient to get at. Before this I always just tinned my tips with solder, but the powder is nice and clean and easy as is the squeezable flux.

This set contains a nice set of items for moving your soldering to the next level. The included flux works well, keeping a clean tip is super important for soldering, and this set is great to level up your soldering game!

This kit provides all the "extra" things you need in order to solder properly: tip-cleaning sponges, a "brass sponge", tip-tinner, flux, and syringe tips to dispense it with.Normally, you'll use the brass sponge to remove excess solder and some types of contamination from the soldering iron tip, and only use a wet sponge if the brass sponge fails. The main reason to prefer the brass sponge is that it presents less thermal shock to the tip.The syringe tips are essential for dispensing the flux... and in some states (like Florida), are almost impossible to buy separately at local stores due to stupid local laws that classify syringes as "drug paraphernalia".The function of "tip tinner" is somewhat hard to describe until you've used it. Basically, after a while, the tip of the soldering iron gets oxidized buildup that interferes with the solder's ability to wick and flow properly. By cleaning the tip, then periodically "tinning" it, the tip works better. All of these items are kind of commodities... but if you don't have them, you should... and this kit is an excellent and economical way to acquire them all at once.

As a beginner this was a good kit for me to get started with my Pinecil. Includes most of the things a beginner needs at a pretty good price. It doesn't really have instructions, but you can easily find this information online whether it be written or a video on YouTube. Would be nice to have some sort of organizer, but not necessary

This is a nice little kit for someone new to soldering or anyone who wants to get a decent price on a set of consumables for solder cleaning, fine flux application, at tip tinning. It's a pretty good value vs. buying these items separately and they are all decent quality. I agree with other reviewer that it would have been nice if they had included some sort of tray for the sponge.

My kiddo has the interest and is of the age where soldering is a skill that they want to acquire. I decided to put together a nice little kit in a zippered case, with one of the Pinecil/TS101 type irons. This kit seemed like it would be perfect in terms of fit into this case, and it was.Sponges: As other reviewers mentioned, pop out the center. They expand a bit when wet. Nothing to keep them in. If you are soldering, and don't have one, pick up a silicone mat.Tinner: This is a powder. Don't try to recreate the image above with the tinner on its side unless you want a mess to clean up. I took a sharpie and wrote 'POWDER' on the lid. Tip at 330c and it tinned it quite well and without a lot of smoke. Prefer this product to the old standby.Brass Cleaning Wire: Same as I have gotten from many sources. The little container is cool. Pop out the plastic cover in the container. Great for portability in my little case.Flux Paste: I picked up some 'learn to solder' kits for the kiddo. I have some expensive flux paste. It was nice to use what was in this kit instead for teaching purposes. That said, it wasn't too bad to use. The inluded 6 tips was pretty awesome. All in all, a great value. Adding a bit of desoldering wick would have been a nice bonus and round out the kit.

This is a good set of soldering accessories, but it takes a little explaining, and there aren't any instructions. First of all, you need to remove the plastic center from the soldering iron cleaner so the lid with a hole in it keeps the abrasive pad contained in it. Removing it takes a bit of force, I had to press hard from the inside, eventually breaking it, but I got it out... this is how it's meant to be used, with the plastic removed. I find that it works very well for cleaning up my soldering iron tip.You will also notice that the sponges have a perforated circle in the center of them, you should remove the center BEFORE you get them wet. That punch out is there for a reason... it gives you a way to pull against the sponge to remove excess solder from your iron. I normally just use the abrasive pad in a can, but the sponge can be helpful at times as well. There is no included container for the sponge, so you have to be careful what you put it on when it is wet. I have a 12" square ceramic tile I got years ago for soldering on, and the sponge works well on that, it doesn't slide around, and I don't have to worry about getting my wood workbench surface wet.The tip tinner works well, I put a brand-new tip on my soldering iron and tried it, and it worked fine. I'm not sure why there is a need for this, I have always tinned my tips with just rosin core solder, and it's always been fine, but the tinner is there, and it works so I'll probably continue using it.As far as I can tell the flux works, but it's hard to say, because I'm using rosin core solder, and mostly repairing existing boards, so the pads all have solder on them already. I don't see anything wrong with it, and it comes with some nice little tips to get it where you need it.Overall, it's a good set of soldering accessories and I'm really happy with it
