Due to long-term use, the soldering iron tip will appear oxidation, resulting in blackening on the surface of the soldering iron tip, no tin, no tin tolerated, slow heat conduction and so on.
The tip is partially heated, and then rubbed back and forth on a copper cleaning ball to wipe off the black oxide layer and residue on the surface of the tip.
After cleaning, the tip of the soldering iron has a noticeable effect, and the contact surface is completely new, at this time, the contact surface is re-tinned, and it can continue to be used or stored after cooling.

I find I have to do a little extra work with this one to get the solder off. Its not terrible but its not the best one I've used.

I bought it because it was cheap, was pleasantly surprised by the quality and that it doesn't have the brand etched onto the front.

I have soldered for years with a stupid sponge that would always fall off the base and also required semi-frequent replacement. This just sits firmly on my table and doesn't move when I need to clean my solder tip. I don't have sponge particles everywhere anymore, and I no longer have any solder particles bouncing up and landing on my hand.It might be a bit more expensive, but so much better!

Perfect for my bench. Nice loose copper ball came with it. Plenty of sources to get more as needed once it fouls. Cleans the tip as promised. There are others that are more expensive, this literally is the same product just a different name in it and comes in any color provided it is black. But this is the most inexpensive. But not bad quality, no scratches or dents.

Only complaint is the weight. It's difficult to clean the tip properly unless I'm holding the holder down with one hand, and the iron with the other. This makes it difficult to clean the tip during complex connections, making it a bit of a hassle. I solved this with some thick two-sided tape and sticking it to my work surface at the beginning of the work session. Not bad, the wool itself is fine, and works acceptably. Didn't blow my mind or anything but gets the job done.

This tip cleaner works great. The construction of the holder is made of metal and won't melt like some. It is light because of this I mounted it to my solder station. Love it, it's right where I need it.

J'ai utilisé pendant longtemps une éponge pour nettoyer mes pointes de fers. Cette petite merveille travaille 10 fois mieux et nous n'avons pas besoin d'eau pour augmente le risque de corrosion sur la pointe. Mes pointes restent toujours très propres maintenant et ce produit accompli parfaitement sa tâche et il reste simple avec très peu d'entretient. J'aime aussi le fait que les débris reste dans la petite boîte, ce qui évite d'avoir des débris sur l'établi comparativement à une éponge. Très bon produit pour un prix très abordable.

This does the job well, keeps my soldering iron tip nice and clean. I'll never use a sponge again.My only complaint would be the weight of the item, there is really nothing to it and it slides all over the place during use if you don't secure it to something.
