This is billed as a rechargeable tuner. It is not. That was the whole point! Please be aware. I plan on keeping it anyway because they are great tuners.

Easy to use and performs exactly as it should right out of the box. Even includes the battery. (Follow directions for device activation. Battery is protected from making contact until plastic shield is removed.)Also, device does NOT interfere with playing while attached if you decide to leave it on your instrument. Very easy to read in bright light (nice, eh?) or very dim light (as you might expect anyway).

I really enjoy the convenience and ease of use this items brings. It does require a bit of patience as sometimes the tuning displayed takes a few seconds to catch up when adjusting the tuning machine. I find that taking several readings of a string in a row is best. The display is great and easy to read. For the price, I can't find anything to really complain about.

I've owned Snarks before. My biggest complaint? That it eventually gets sticky... like the paint is melting off or something. It's gross. But that was on an old Snark. This one seems to be made of something different so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't do that. The readout is much sharper and brighter than my old one.I find these tuners much handier than pedal tuners and they seem very accurate.

Great little tuner. No issues with it at all. Accuracy matches my more expensive tuner.

I really like this tuner. It's so fast it makes it quick to check tunes, and the reaction speed to string pull is spot on. It has a one touch button to turn on and off (not press and hold like cheap models), auto turn off if you forget, clear and large screen and noticeably accurate tuning. I've compare with my cheap free tuners I have with several ukuleles and this is reading spot on where others usually read flat. By ear, the tune is spot on when it says and I've tested with a piano to ensure its right and I cannot fault it (whereas my others usually are sharp when tuned to their 'spot on'). Considering the price, it's a no brainer. This is a worthy purchase! I've not tried a super expensive tuner but after this, why would I? It's so good it doesn't need me to replace!

The problem with all of these tuners is this. A simple program and mic on your phone will be able to accurately convert the frequency to a digital format that can be read for accuracy. i.e. you can download a tuner software on your iPhone and tune your guitar. But - that's just not easy for me - and many others. I want something right there on my guitar that I can use.I have looked for super high end, high quality tuners but have not found one. I wanted one with extreme accuracy that is made of high quality materials - that will last a very long time. Here's the problem. Every one of these guitar tuners (similar to this one) believes they are competing with the iPhone software that's free. So they make these things and CHEAP AS POSSIBLE! yes - low quality plastics and parts. They try to hit the 10 dollar mark.If you look around, you will see ones that come with capos. (really?! how much money did they actually spend making that tuner if they are including a 5 dollar capo for 10 dollars total?!)That said. you will see these cheap plastic tuners for around 10-30 dollars. I have bought and returned the ones above 10 bucks for various reasons (reason 1) they could not tune the guitar. hitting a D string seemed impossible - which meant their components were junk - thus they are making bank by putting super low quality parts inside. Reason 2) the plastic buttons were so cheap that you could not turn it on. yes, I bought a 25 dollar "best of the best" recommended tuner and it struggled to tune the d string A AND I could not turn it on as those super cheap plastic buttons were just broken on arrival - complete garbage. there are other reasons - just assume all cheaply made - poor quality components). After buying the - "best", I went and looked at this brand. keep in mind that I bought a few of the best of the best (as I wanted a tuner on my guitar that I could access at any time). they all had crazy problems with quality. yet - I bought a few of these at completely different times and all worked. that's amazing as zero of the expensive ones worked. For around 10 bucks, you can't get better.Memo to these tuner makers (yes - I am an engineer). you are not competing with that software app on the phone. Guys like me would pay to get a super high end quality tuner with super high end parts to have off the end of my high end Martin guitars. I have no desire to use the software on my iPhone. yes - I have a great ear but in concert - its super hard to hear and that thing at the end of my guitar had better be amazing. for now I am ok with 10 dollar cheap tuners (and this brand has proven to be the best that I have found) but I plan to either make my own with great parts or find a maker willing to make something high end.in any case - get this one if you are looking for a solid tuner. they are very nice and cannot be beat for the price.Nicely done Snark! you get my 5 star award!

This thing is so easy to use and so inexpensive I am now kicking myself for not getting one sooner. It is also bloody accurate. I have an older and much more expensive electronic tuner that I have been using for about 12 years. It's pretty good, but even after I tune my guitar, I still have to fine tune a couple strings on my guitars by ear. Not so with the Snark. just keep going through the strings until it says they are all tuned and they are tuned. My first chord sounded beautiful without any further fine tuning by ear. And being able to have it clipped on the head of my guitar makes it easy to retune on the fly. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. I'll have to try it on my son's viola next. But for guitars, this thing is a ten out of ten.

5 Stars for the ST-8 but only 2.5 stars for the ST-8Hz. Since this review covers both model I'm rating it a 4 overall. The ST-8 is fantastic all the way around. Fast, easy to use, easy to read, accurate. The ST-8Hz uner works great as a standard chromatic (just like the ST-8) tuner but the Hz tuning feature does not work well. It is slow to register and you must use the tuning in sequence. This means that it does not work on a ukulele. I was able to get the tuning to register for the first string (G below middle C) and this was only due to the low G tuning...can't use at all on re-entrant tuning. Returned the ST-8Hz for the ST-8 which works great.
