The product looked much larger in the picture than expected. Not completely satisfied with the product but did find it somewhat useful to file product or appliance instruction booklets. Manufacture could change design to a wider and deeper file and flip cord closure.

My other organizer got full, so for about two years, I'd just been throwing everything into a cardboard box... :( Since we have a move coming up, I knew I finally had to do something!I looked at a lot of different types of organizers on Amazon, but since my mom always used expanding folders like this when I was little, I knew this would work best.I noticed that some are open at the bottom, but this one is closed, so nothing will fall through!When I received this, it looked smaller than I expected, but letter size papers fit, with a little extra room. I'm definitely impressed with how much can fit in this! I had a huge box full of bank statements, bills, you name it! Everything fit, with room to spare!I love how the elastic band is attached to it too, so I won't lose it!Huge, but compact and very affordable!*The stains you see in the first photo are just glue to attach the cover paper to the plastic.

The tabs in this are pre-labeled A-Z plus a tab for numbered items. The file expands easily and items I put inside are secure and easy to retrieve. It takes up barely any room when stored but has enough capacity to hold everything I need it to with plenty to spare. Keep in mind I'm not a homeowner so my filing needs may be less than others. I use this for keeping warranties, W2s, money order receipts, and similar things. I don't have a large amount of contracts or different insurances or stuff like that, and I would guess that this file could still hold a lot of that stuff, but I can't say for certain. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a small, portable filing system.

... at least that's what I use it for. As you collect receipts, bills, and other tax-related pieces of paper over the course of the year, this folder serves quite well as a "drop box" for everything until your ready to sit down and do your taxes, and is a vast improvement over a large shoebox.SUMMARY: Decent construction, does what it's supposed to -- help your sort things out in life. Not the only solution, but a good one at a reasonable price.DETAILS: Prior to buying this folder, I had been using an unlabeled style (e.g., http://www.amazon.com/Five-Star-Pocket-Expanding-72391/dp/B003OCQOLA) that I added labels to for this function. I found that the labels in this other style would sometimes slip out of their holder. This folder is a shortcut that relieves me of going through the labeling process (not that it's a big deal, so I wouldn't necessarily rate this as a better option).As a bonus, if you decide that you're not into filing (for your) taxes anymore, you can use it to sort recipes or user manuals ;-)

First off, I bought this because I was getting to the point where I wanted to keep all of my important documents (insurance stuff, tax stuff, etc...) in a safe place. I had read reviews about this one being sturdy, and at the price it was offered I couldn't say no. It's very thick and will surely last... I dunno, forever? It has a-z on the tabs, but I taped over those with my own categorizations (Years/ type of documentation, etc...). IF I ever fill this up, I'm buying the exact same one again.PROS:-many many slots-very sturdy and will last through the apocalypse-band holds itself shut and tight-slots can open very wide to accommodate trillions of papers (hyperbole? Maybe)CONS:-None so far, unless it were to come with blank labels instead of letters. I can see the letters being useful for some people, just not me. It's easy to just put tape over it and write my own.

I've used these expanding files for my income taxes for years. I run a small rental business (about a dozen rental homes) and find this type of file exactly what I need to retain and store all the invoices and records during the year that I need at tax time and it also provides room for my final copy of my completed taxes. I can mark the completed records for each year and then store them securely for the required three years before disposing of them, being comfortable that, in case of an IRS audit, I've got all my records well preserved and ready any time I might need them. These expanding files are durable and convenient to keep next to my computer for ease of use. I find ordering them through Amazon more convenient that shopping at the local stores and buying this file when I order my tax software for the new year, I can usually get free shipping and no local sales tax. What a deal!!

Bought this for a friend of mine that is taking classes to become a lawyer, needed something quite large. I looked everywhere the prices were higher than I expected. Also, mostly plastic.Found this one checked the size & price. No comparison anywhere. It is really big and durable will last him for years. I actually ordered another one. It opens wide and can hold alot of papers & files, I'd call it oversized. But thats great. Some papers don't fit in the regular file folders. There is an elastic cord that wraps around it to close it up, keeps it nice & tight too. Nothing will fall out. Just to note I bought mine through [...] free shipping & low price. They are an Amazon seller. I felt safe with that.
