This product is used to attach a smartphone to a telescope by mounting it on an eyepiece which is then inserted into the telescope's eyepiece holder. It is supplied with an instruction pamphlet and five different size locking rings that will fit a variety of 1.25” or 2” telescope eyepieces. It cannot be used with 0.965” eyepieces or some 1.25” eyepieces, as their diameters are too small to be gripped by the locking rings. If the eyepiece is equipped with an eyecup, it will be necessary to remove it. The bracket appears to be well made of metal, has a matte black finish, and all screw threads are clean and smooth. The ring for tightening the locking nut has very fine threads, necessitating quite a bit of turning to adequately tighten it.This reviewer was able to get adequate grip on eyepieces with a viewing-end diameter of 1 3/4” and 1 3/8”. However, he was unable to tighten it enough to grip an eyepiece with a viewing-end diameter slightly over 1 1/4”. The largest diameter it would seem to accept would be 1 3/4”. The lens mount is deep enough to allow adjustment for good eye relief. However, there is a gap between the camera lens and the eyepiece mount, which could allow stray light from other sources to affect the image. The clamp that holds the phone is straightforward and strong, and phone position and angle can both be adjusted to accommodate cameras with multiple lenses. Once positioned, the bracket is held firm by one screw with a 1” knob. However, tightening the knob can be tricky for one person. It would be much easier with a “third hand” to tighten the screw while the other two hands hold everything in the proper position. When the attached eyepiece is installed on the scope, the mount holds the phone securely with no discernible movement or shaking. All things considered, this is a worthwhile accessory for those wishing to take pictures through a telescope with their cell phone.

If you use an optical device with eye piece be it a telescope, binocular or even monocular, there may come a time where you wish you could photograph what you are seeing so you can share it with your friends. This device helps bridge that need. It is nicely constructed and has a solid feel. What it is: It is a bracket that clamps onto the eyepiece of whatever you are viewing with and holds a phone steady in position. Often what you might be photographing is in low light so having a steady hold on the phone is useful. How easy is it to use: It is a bit fiddly to adjust the position of the phone lens over the eyepiece opening where focal distance and centering are just right. So this is no spontaneous photo device, it will take some time to get this all adjusted. But once the angle and position of the phone are set up, it makes taking photos easy. Be sure to tighten the ring on the eyepiece as in at least one instance, the eyepiece was small enough that it nearly fell off. What would I change: The only reasons why this is a 3 star product versus 5 is that overall, this approach to photography is not ideal and usually results in blurry photos and this also happens to be one of the few mounts that attaches to the eyepiece in the way it does ,with a plastic ring that tightens its grip on the eyepiece when you turn a screw cover. Its a smart conceptual idea in that this approach reduces the possibility of scratching what can be an expensive eyepiece. But... this approach makes attaching it flush to the eyepiece tough and getting the phone into the eyepieces's focal range with this approach was difficult. So a majority of the times I've used it, I took blurry photos, not much better than when I manually held the camera over the eyepiece. Will I be using it: If I must take a photo and I have no other means, I may. But in general its not something I'm going to rely upon because it takes several minutea to setup and often results in blurry photos.

Starboosa smartphone adapter for spotting scopes, telescopes, binoculars. I can't seem to make it work on my rifle scopes! But I can make it work on my spotting scope and monocular and all of my binoculars My rifle scopes are just made with two large of an ocular lens. But you can install it on anything else. It is very well constructed with all steel and aluminum parts. There are thread brass inserts and nylon inserts that go over your ocular lens or eyepiece and you screw the collar until it is tightened. Easy to use, once you have it installed on your scope simply put your cell phone in the holder and rotate that until your phone lens lines up with the eyepiece lens. Then using the set screw with large plastic knob simply tighten in that position and you're ready to go! It's a great thing to have so that, especially with kids around everybody can see what's going on instead of having to take turns lol

Use this to get cool pictures with your cell phone and a set of binoculars. Uses a compression ring to secure the adaptor to the binoculars. Comes with 4 different size compression rings to allow for different size binoculars. Make sure to measure the diameter of your binoculars for proper fit on the skinny end (33 to 46 mm). Place your cell phone in the phone holder, loosen the wing nut and adjust the lens until the binocular image appears on the phone display. This part is tricky, but can be done. Focus the binoculars and zoom the cell screen for the desired picture. I took a few pictures, definitely gets you closer to the action. I'm going to add a tripod for my binoculars for the ultimate setup.
