3-5 second delay after person gets up :( A fall can happen in that time so RUN when you hear the alarm. We are getting a floor mat alarm to hopefully have a quicker alert

This alarm has been heaven sent! My dear 96 year old MIL has been with us for a year. Until then, was living , driving and caring for herself in her own home.Recently we needed some kind alert so that I could get enough sleep to continue to care for her in the proper manner. She weighs about 110 lbs and this alarm works perfectly. The alert is like a doorbell, which is nice, not jolt you out of bed emergency type of alarm!I keep the base right at my bedside and can immediately turn it off and attend to her without my husband being jolted awake( he’s a dialysis patient and needs his rest too) I added the nurses call button after a week for her to call me from the bathroom or if she’s sitting on the porch. It gives each of us some freedom but security.Well worth the money and the peace of mind.Before I purchased this, I was waking up every hour to check on her. What a wonderful, affordable tool to be able to set a mind at ease.I am 100% satisfied!!

This bed alarm worked very well to detect motion however failed after 9 months of use. Contact with manufacturer Smart Caregiver for replacement pad did not result in resolution of the issue. They advised that I had to go through the seller to get a replacement pad. Was unable to contact the seller Alexthon to get help. If you are thinking of buying this item, do not get it from Alexthon...you get no customer service from them

This works with remarkable consistency. I place the flat pad under my loved one’s bedsheet with the battery pack hanging off toward the side she doesn’t use. It sends a signal the moment she lifts her weight off the bed, giving me plenty of time to get there to ensure a safe walk to the bathroom.The receiver is kept in the next room (and we did buy the adaptor to plug it in, didn’t want to risk the 3 C batteries getting weak without us realizing it).I especially appreciate that there are 3 volume levels for the chime, since the quietest level is more than enough to wake me from a sound sleep - in fact, I often put a layer of blanket or something over it to take the edge off. (We had a prior type of motion alert that stood on the floor and sent an infrared beam - it reliably caught the motion when our loved one got up, but the volume couldn’t be adjusted and was so loud it woke the whole house and gave a big shot of adrenaline, not needed in the middle of the night.)I will need to put a calendar reminder to order a new bed pad in a year, since the bed pad battery is not replaceable and they say it lasts about a year.

This alarm is very reliable, however it is very delayed before it alarms. My 94 year old Grandpa will be out of bed and to the bedroom door with his front wheeled walker before it will start alarming. This caused me great worry because he was very weak and high risk for falling. I would fly out of bed in the middle of the night running to his room because I knew he was already up and in danger. The good news is, it did save me some sleep and gave me comfort knowing I was at least notified that he was up. The only other thing I do not appreciate is is the crinkly plastic sound it makes when my Grandpa is crawling into his bed. Any confused elderly person would wonder what that is in their bed and may try to remove it. It should be a little less noisy. I love the adjustable volume on the alarm and that it is reliable. The thing did flash when the battery was low so I knew it was time to plug it in or change the batteries.

I would say this alarm has been extremelly helpful with respect to allowing us to sleep without concern that my mother is getting up without supervision. I especially like the fact that the alarm is able to be brought to whatever room I am in. Although there are three levels of sound, so, sometimes I just leave it in a nearby room, still able to hear the alarm even if I move among the rooms. As noted in other reviews, there is a 'crinkling' noise when the person moves in the bed, but we have an incontinence pad over the alarm pad, and my mom is undisturbed by the crinkling sound. Positioning of the pad (I used safety pins to keep the pad in place on the mattress) may require a bit of trial and error and will depend on the person's sleep habits, and speed of rising. I would say this purchase was totally worth it for our situation. I also purchased the ac adapter, as others had written that the cost of battery replacements was expensive. The adapter has worked out well.

This has been a life saver. Alarm is easy to set up and reliable. It allows me to sleep peacefully at night while knowing that my relative will not be getting out of bed without my help. We use it day and night. The effective, but pleasant sounding chime alarm can be heard at every part of our house, but just to be sure I have been taking it with me when I am busy and distracted. Even if I have to get up during the night, I can go right back to bed knowing that the alarm is on duty! It's so important for the caretaker to be well rested and this setup allows for that. I was able to dismiss all of the night nurses who were here just for the purpose of making sure my relative did not try to get up and fall. This is saving us a ton of money in nurses fees. Shipment came promptly and well packaged. i highly recommend this alarm.

Purchased this a while ago. Last week finally had time to take it out of the box and it doesn't work. Ran out to buy batteries, followed instructions and it does not work. Wonder if it is too late to return, it wasn't cheap!
