I am so glad I decided to get this longer version of a soil sampler; This 20 in was a struggle to get into my drought clay lawn so I can’t imagine how you accomplish obtaining a sample when the sampler is only 12in long…! This seemed very sturdy, love the pointed end and the silicone protective cap as well as the foam handles. If you have heavy clay soil I would highly recommend this version —I could only get about 3 inches down but that is not reflective of this product’s limitations. I am a wimp and also I probably should have waited for a good rainstorm to soften up the ground…anyway as a plus they give you three foil ziplock pouches and they were great because there were no corners for the soil to get stuck inside. Thoughtful design when you are using the pouch to consolidate several samples of soil.

It worked great. Much easier than using a plain shovel. Thank you Amazon

Bought this to take soil sample from my zoysia lawn. We have hard clay under the sod. This thing went right through the sod and hard clay. Sample stayed inside the shaft until I pushed it out. MUCH better for the lawn than digging a hole to get a sample.

soil sample company wanted to charge me $40 for the same tool (with no padded grips) as part of their sample kit. got this instead. it puts holes in dirt and lets you take samples. it does its job flawlessly.

No bells and whistles, just a straightforward tool that gets the job done. It is shipped with a rubber tip at the end of the probe. After a few minutes of pushing and pulling I realized I just needed to twist it off and it came off easily. There are no threads, but it worked.I placed the probe on top of the area I wanted a sample from and used the handle to leverage twisting back and forth and it went in easily. As you can see by the soil sample, here in Florida we call sand - soil. The instructions suggest you should use your finger or a stick to release the soil from the probe. The inside of the probe, where it goes into the ground, is a little rough. You may get away with sanding it smooth, or just use a stick or an old longhandled screwdriver to empty the cylinder.

I like this soil probe. It is strong and sturdy and works well in stony soils. I will likely have to sharpen it again with my Dremel, but that goes with the territory. The grips are nice, comes in handy on hot or rainy days.

I decided to care for my lawn and took the advice to get a soil test. I'm glad I did! This tool is durable but not heavy. Even with tough Texas clay soil, after watering a day before, it easily collected great samples. Removing samples from the tube with my finger was easy. With regular cleaning, I expect this tool to last a long time.

I don't have much experience with these samplers, but I am quite happy with it. It is nice and sturdy while taking a good sized sample. I wish the end was sharpened to some degree so it would be a bit easier, but oh well.

The "Sleekspace Soil Probe with Small Soil Sampler Bags. 20" Soil Sample Probe Rod. Patent Pending Ground Probe Design for Tidy Strata in Soil Test Sampling." is super easy to use, and works even in very hard soil. Great for classroom studies of soil or for your own gardening/planting needs and information. Handle is easy on the hands and the sample area is a good size. Depth is excellent for most typical requirements.

We have 51 acres and wanted to send some soil samples to a lab for analysis. This was an easy tool to get the job done. Our ground is rocky, so we did a number on the sharp tip after 60+ holes. That being said, it is still sharp enough. The foam grips are comfortable and appear like they should hold up. If this was my FULL TIME job, I'd probably get one with a foot step.
