Being able to set the timer and walk away is the best thing ever! It was easy to program and it keeps me from having to get up to turn it on/off

Ordered to replace a 15 year old broken Skyteck remote, I wanted something basic and simple to use and this one turned out to be just right. Replaced the old receiver with the new remote receiver that came with unit, installed batteries and pushed on button and fire place started right up, simply. Now I don't have to remember to turn off fire place, I just set remote timer to 15 or 30 minted or more and I know it will turn off if anyone forgets to.Installed and using Skytech SKY-1001 T/LCD unit for around 1 month.

Pros:1. Easy replacement installation from previous simpler Skytech 1001-A On/Off remote2. Uses AAA batteries vs 1001-A odd 12v Remote Control Battery3. Existing 1001-A Receiver unit works with remote, mooting need to replace with new receiver4. Temperature LCD and Timer features are nice additionsCons:1. Wasn't able to add previous 1001-A remote via learn mode. Manual implies it can handle up to 3. Note: I didn't spend much time troubleshooting this since I only needed one remote.2. Was unable to get it to work with Broadlink RM Pro Universal Remote. Suspect it's due to RF frequency incompatibility. RM Pro Frequency: 433 / 315MHz SkyTech Frequency: 303.875MHZ3. Comes with complete kit (remote transmitter + receiver, batteries, faceplate, &c) The price is worth it but a bit steep for a replacement-only remote transmitter.

This Remote works great for a standard built-in fireplace that is offered in most new builder homes. This saves a trip out of bed and has a timer function to make sure that the fireplace is turned off and does not stay on all night.Great product, easy to install and comes with everything you need to get it working immediately. (ie batteries in box)The temperature display is interesting, but since most fireplaces in new homes in California are about ambiance and not heat, this works great for me.
