So far, I've traveled to to Europe, Dubai, Japan and some countries in Africa, where it worked very well without any issues. It is easy to set up and get a plan. Keep in mind, that the plans are somewhat expensive but very reliable.I did notice that it does not work in some countries that only allow internet through their own company, whereas the Solis Lite 4G LTE (or any other WiFi company) cannot/is not allowed to connect to any tower (while I was in Djibouti). It is not a fault of SIMO.Overall, it is the convenience of knowing you will have global WiFi in most countries. I highly recommend this Solis International WiFi for folks on the move!

Works great! Small and compact. the price per day is very reasonable and they do not have to be continuous days. Reliable connectivity. I have used it while traveling through USA National Forests and internationally. We have streamed up to 3 devices - I have friends who say they have streamed up to 5 with no issues. We have used it in 3rd world countries, island countries, and abroad without issue. We have not tried it on a cruise but I don't think it will work: It should not work as it needs a local carrier to connect to and local ISP carrier connectivity is not available while floating at sea. It did not work in Morocco - I was told it was because of carrier agreements - so check the countries you anticipate visiting.

We are staying on a remote bay on the island of Hvar for the winter. The cellular signal is almost nonexistent here. Yet, this small device allows us to stream movies etc without problems. I am definitely happy with it.If I had it to do over I wouldn’t buy a data card from Amazon. It is way way cheaper to buy data through the App.

I've been shopping around for a hotspot to take along in our camper. This one seemed to have the features that I was looking for and the reviews were favorable so I ordered it. It arrived in 4 days, in plenty of time for our camping trip next week. The setup was amazingly simple. I did plug it in to charge it but it turns out that it was nearly completely charged. Then you just power it on, download the app on your phone, Create an account, and follow the very few simple steps. My laptop and my phone easily found and connected to the hotspot and those are the two devices that I will be using when camping. The device is small and would easily fit in a pocket or just about anywhere. And talk about simple. There is one lighted button and three little lights and that's it. It includes a USB-C charging cord (an outlet adaptor is not included) and an adaptor to use the cord to charge your phone right from the device. The battery life is said to be 16 hours but I can't confirm that yet.We live in a fringe area so none of our speeds here are blazingly fast but are adequate for our needs. When I first connected to the hotspot with my laptop and checked the speed it was disappointingly slow. But there is a feature in the app that will scan to find the strongest cell signal. I ran the scan and then the speeds were equal to what we get with our regular internet provider, which is also via cell towers, so I am very pleased with that. The data plans are very flexible and should fit most needs. There are global plans, North American plans, and USA plans. There is an unlimited plan that automatically renews monthly for $89 per month. There are other monthly plans from 1 GB to 50 GB with prices that range from $6 to $70 per month. The plan that I will use, because we will mostly just use the hotspot while camping, is the pay-as-you-go plan where you just add more data right from the app as you need it at $8 per GB. The very nice thing about that is that once you add data your unused data never expires. So if I load more data into the device than I use while camping I don't lose it. It just stays loaded in the device to use whenever I need it. Another very nice feature is that the device includes one free GB per month that is automatically added to the hotspot. The free GB does not carry over from month to month, however. The hotspot can be connected to 10 different devices. We will seldom have more than three connected at a time. If you only connect a few devices you could use one of the monthly plans and use the hotspot as your home internet provider but most homes today connect many more than 10 devices so that would not work for everyone.Since the hotspot works via cell tower signals it should work fine anywhere your phone works. The campground where we are going is fairly remote, but there is a signal there, so I expect the hotspot to work fine. If there are any issues I will update this review but so far I am very favorably impressed with this little hotspot.

I bought this for a trip to Norway and Sweden and used it for about 10 days in Oslo and Stockholm. I did not use it before leaving the US but did see it picking up a signal from T-Mobile and ATT. Then in Europe, I used up my 1GB monthly allowance of free data and activated a daily pass. The 1GB was enough to get me from the train station to my hotel using Apple Maps 20 minutes away. This device worked well picking up a strong 5G signal. I used the hotel wifi then activated the daily pass at the hotel. The device generally worked well picking up a strong 5G signal in both Norway and Sweden. There is one major (and expensive) annoyance with the daily pass. You cannot activate multiple daily passes at once. You need to activate one pass and wait 24 hours for it to expire before you can activate a new daily pass. So what this means is you need to time your activations properly or you can be stuck in the middle of nowhere without wifi which is required to activate a new daily pass. The first day I did it at my hotel using their wifi. The second day I was out on the street and it ran out so I needed to find a McDonalds to use free wifi to activate the second day pass. By the third day I figured out a workaround that cost me more money buying a non-expiring Solis 20 GB plan. So when the day pass expires, the data plan kicks in and starts using your 20GB. Then you can use the Solis wifi hotspot itself to activate another daily pass. Just remember to set a timer to make sure you don't forget and use up your more expensive data plan. In total I used about 500MB of data between day passes so doing this does not deplete your prepaid data. This system did work okay and in 10 days I was able to use only 6 daily passes because I used free wifi at the hotel, train, and at restaurants.Since I wanted to test a local SIM card I also looked while I was out shopping and that did NOT work out since the local SIM cards needed activation and it was very unclear if they can be used as data plans for a wifi hotspot. I even went into a phone repair shop and they could not tell me. In some cases you need to activate a SIM using your passport ID to comply with local laws. If you want to use a cheaper local SIM get one at the airport and have them install it and test it there since once you leave the airport there are no assurances the SIM will work if you install it yourself. So it turns out by having the Solis 5G I was able to use my iPhone that does not have extra eSIMs since I have two numbers using the eSIMs on my phone. I was able to use Holafly last year and an eSIM but recently Holafly eliminated the local phone number and has data only which means you are stuck using WhatsApp and cannot use your text messaging or US phone number for calls. Figuring all this out has been trial and error and if you want to avoid connectivity gaps, I recommend buying the Solis 5G and the data plans for overseas. The device is expensive but if you plan to travel a lot then it is worth the investment. When you are on vacation you don't want to waste time trying to get connected. One other annoyance is that the iPhone app does not work with the Solis 5G, only the hockey puck cheaper version. To log in to your account or purchase more data or toggle between data plans you need to go online using the QR code that displays on the device. All these annoyance quirks I found through trial and error and by contacting Solis customer support to answer my questions. The customer support is very good anytime of the day but it certainly would be nice to know all the things I pointed out before buying the Solis 5G. I'm sure I am not the first user with these use case scenarios!

I was not looking for the most advanced tech hotspot, but the easiest one to use wherever you go. This device is very easy to set up. You land on foreign soil and you are connected to the local network. No Airport purchase or sim chasing. Does not get easier than that. Worked beautifully in Mexico City. Small enough to carry albeit with a small bulge in you pockets.Came with 1 GB free data. Installed the app to purchase another 1 GB from the pay per GB plan. If you don't use it, you get to keep it until your next travel. Happy with the purchase. Best to turn it on for a minimum of 5 - 7min before it really gets going. Good purchase.
