The TP-Link AC750 Wireless Portable Nano Travel Router (TL-WR902AC) has completely transformed my internet experience while traveling, especially on cruises. This little device is a game-changer, and here's why I believe it’s the best travel router out there:The first thing you’ll notice is its incredibly compact size. It’s small enough to fit in your pocket, making it perfect for travel. Despite its size, it packs a lot of power and functionality, which is crucial when space is at a premium on cruise ships.Setting up the TP-Link AC750 is a breeze. The intuitive interface and clear instructions make it easy to configure, even for those who are not tech-savvy. Within minutes, I had a secure and reliable Wi-Fi network set up in my cabin. The performance of this travel router is outstanding. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, providing fast and stable internet connectivity. This is especially important on a cruise, where the onboard Wi-Fi can be spotty and congested. The TP-Link AC750 ensures a smooth and reliable connection, allowing me to stay connected with my family, stream videos, and browse the web without interruptions. The versatility of this router is impressive. It can function as a router, hotspot, range extender, client, and access point. This flexibility means it adapts to various scenarios, whether you’re in a hotel, a cruise cabin, or a remote location. On cruises, I use it in hotspot mode to share a single internet connection with multiple devices, saving on expensive Wi-Fi charges. The built-in USB port is a fantastic addition. It allows for media sharing from a USB drive, which is perfect for sharing photos and videos with travel companions. Additionally, the USB port can charge your devices, which is a handy feature when outlets are limited.Security is a top priority when using public or shared networks. The TP-Link AC750 offers robust security features, including WPA/WPA2 encryption, ensuring that my data remains protected. This peace of mind is invaluable, especially when connecting to potentially insecure networks on a cruise ship.Given its performance, features, and versatility, the TP-Link AC750 offers exceptional value for money. It’s an affordable investment that significantly enhances your travel experience by providing reliable and secure internet access wherever you go.The TP-Link AC750 Wireless Portable Nano Travel Router (TL-WR902AC) is the best travel router I’ve ever used, and it’s particularly suited for cruises. I recently took the GL.iNet GL-A1300 Pocket VPN Travel Router on a cruise with Carnival, and it performed exceptionally well for my family. Here's a detailed review based on our experience:**Pros:**- **Great for Travel:** This router is incredibly compact and easy to carry, making it a perfect travel companion. Its small size allowed me to easily fit it in my bag without taking up much space.- **Wi-Fi Sharing:** One of the standout features was the ability to connect to the ship's Wi-Fi and share it with multiple devices. We only paid for one device connection and used the router to provide Wi-Fi for the entire family, which was a huge cost saver.- **USB-C Powered:** The router is powered via USB-C, which is very convenient as it can be powered by the same charger used for most modern smartphones and laptops.- **Features:** The router comes with excellent features, including dual-band Wi-Fi, VPN capabilities (OpenVPN and WireGuard pre-installed), and network storage options. The setup was straightforward and user-friendly, even for someone who isn't particularly tech-savvy.- **Security:** With features like a VPN internet kill switch, VPN policies, and encrypted DNS with Cloudflare, it provides a robust layer of security, which is essential when using public Wi-Fi networks.**Cons:**- **Wi-Fi Repeater Strength:** The only noticeable downside was the speed drop-off when using it as a Wi-Fi repeater. While this is somewhat expected, it can still be a bit of an inconvenience if you're trying to maintain higher speeds.- **No Built-in Battery:** Although it's powered via USB-C, having a small built-in battery would be a nice addition for times when you don't have access to a power source. However, this isn't a major issue as long as you have a portable charger.Overall, the GL.iNet GL-A1300 is a fantastic travel router that offers great value for its price. Its compact size, ease of use, and rich feature set make it a must-have for frequent travelers. The slight speed drop-off in repeater mode is a minor inconvenience compared to the overall benefits it provides. Another feature I would appreciate is if the USB C port doubles as power and an Ethernet port so I could just plug it into my MacBook and have the same cable power the router and have a wired internet connection.
