This listing is for ONE random pull Fossil iridescent Ammonite from the Mahajanga Province of Madagascar. These ammonites are approx 110 million years old, being from a formation that dates back to the Cretaceous period! Ammonites were predatory mollusks that resembled a squid with a shell. These cephalopods had eyes, tentacles, and spiral shells. They are more closely related to a living octopus, though the shells resemble that of a nautilus. Ammonites appeared in the fossil record about 240 million years ago and they barely survived several major extinction events. The last lineages disappeared 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous. Sizes range from 1 to 1.5 inches long! Photos above represent the approx quality and sizes you will receive. The company sent this fossil well-wrapped and protected. I almost doubt it is 110 million years old, but could learn whether so. I love this fossil as part of my small, bugging gem collection.

The color in this ammonite is beautiful. The picture shown does not show how nice the iridescent is, it is far nicer than the picture. It is well worth the money.
