A must have tool, makes Hardie plank installation a breeze, especially if you are doing it by yourself. Ensure proper lap and supports the board as you are nailing. Have used on several jobs and the tools are holding up well!

These are an extremely useful tool for installing your fiber siding on your own. You can do the job by yourself with precision! The tool is specifically made for hardyboard type siding, they are not for vinyl siding. There is a pin with a nut on each of the two pieces which is easily removed so that you can adjust the length of overlap for your installation process. Adjustments can be made in 1/4" increments before you begin the project and then you simply replace the pin, screw the nut on and you are ready to go.You install your first board and assuming you take time to measure and level it properly all of your subsequent pieces will be perfectly placed. You simply place the tool at the top of the board you just nailed in place and flip the handle to lock it and the next piece into place. You can then move along the side of your house nailing the board in place without worry of it moving. You don't need someone to hold it in place, you don't need to tack the ends and level every time. These are made of plastic and metal. The green and black parts are all hard, thick plastic. Perhaps metal would be better, but I am not concerned about the quality of these. It is the same sort of plastic as some corner vices that I have. I have been using them for years and the plastic has never broken, warped, nor cracked at all. All pins, screws, and bolts in the tool are metal.I cannot see a visible difference between these and the set I got from our hardware store.
