Your cart is empty.This is a Hardened Stainless Steel Satin Chrome Rigid 300 mm Steel metric rule. This rule is made by Shinwa Measuring Tools Corporation, a premier tool manufacturer and is one of the most commonly used rules in Japan. This rule is made from the finest stainless steel available and is hardened and tempered. It has a zero glare satin chrome finish which makes it easy to read and will prevent corrosion. Markings are precision photo etched and then black filled for easy readability. The metric graduations shows mm and .5 mm one one side and metric conversions on the reverese side. Rule is 25 mm wide 1 mm thick. Both long edges and one end ends are ground flat and straight. Other end is rounded with a handing hole. Accuracy conforms to Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) B 7516 Grade 1.

I measured things as part of my jobs for my whole life (too many years to say). Mostly used ft. inches. and down to less than one ten thousandth of an inch. I never had any affection for the metric system but have recently been laying out hole patters in MM's to be drilled on a drill press. I got so sick of multiplying by .03937 that I broke down and bought my first metric scale. Now I just use the metric number its much easier. In precision work the conversions will continue as machinery is still in imperial measurements but I am so glad to have bought this. Its easy to read and good quality.

If you are looking for an excellent ruler, standard or metric, this is it. I have both the 300 mm and 600 mm. Laser etched numbers and easy to read. Reasonably thick stainless steel, not like the flimsy thin ones at the big box store. These are what I reach out for at my table saw to set the fence distance from the blade (instead of my measuring tape). Awesome product.

The graduations are clear and consistent, easy to read. The ruler is thinner than some but not floppy or anything, solid quality all around.

I have several rules, tape measures, and other measuring devices around my home and shop, but they are all in standard units (inches). When I started working on Japanese gasoline engines, and especially when I began using a 3D printer, I found myself constantly having to express and measure units in metric units (mostly millimeters). I bought this ruler specifically because it has 0.5mm precision, the ruler is hardened stainless steel instead of plastic, and it comes in a protective plastic sheath to reduce wear on the markings and lettering.On the back of the ruler are some tables to convert inches to millimeters, as well as a tap conversion table for screws/tap diameters and threading.Unless you use this thing to swat flies and pry open things, it should last a lifetime, and when the United States finally switches to Metric (ha!) you'll be ready. Great product!

This is what you want for a precision ruler, 1mm graduation on one side, 0.5mm on the other. Crisp, high contrast lines which are easy to read ( Using a short, long, long, short segmentation between the 5mm markers).The finish on the zero end is a bit rough and could do with a finer polish, but it doesn't impact the overall usability.Perfect for pencil or knife markings, without grates that cut the skin or scratch your workpiece ( the zero-end corners are sharp though)Highly recommended for discerning home-craftspeople and probably pros as well.

The first one of these I ordered was slightly warped and would not lay flat on it's own. It would touch in the middle, but the ends would come up 0.5-1mm on each side. So, I ordered another one. The new one I ordered was different. The first one said Made in China on the packaging, and the new one said Made in Japan on both the package and on the rule itself.The Made in Japan version had Shinwa written in English on it, and the Made in China one had Shinwa written in katakana. If you looked really close, the printing on the Japan version was slightly better, especially with the larger red numbers. The edge on the Chinese version was not as smooth. Another thing to note is that at the 300mm mark they were off about 0.1mm from each other when I lined them up at zero. I didn't bother to check which one was more accurate, because that kind of error is fine for what I'm using this for.BOTH are legitimate Shinwa products. Shinwa has 2 factories in China and one in Japan. Maybe I just got a bad one, but the Chinese version was definitely not as good as the Japanese version. I'm very happy with the Made in Japan version I have now, I returned the slightly warped Chinese version. It's not as nice as my Starrett, but it's 1/5th the price and well worth it. Even though I had problems with the first one I received, I'll buy Shinwa again as they are a great value.
