I use this arbor with 6 inch diamond discs to sharpen lathe tools, chisels, etc. I mount the system on my lathe. Runs very true and sharpens the tools very fast and leave a fine edge. For less than $50 I got the arbor and 9 disks of various grits. The only grits I really need are about 200 and 2000. I wrote a review for the disks and I notice that several other people are using the same system for sharpening tools.

Generally, the products I have gotten from Shars has been acceptable in quality and function but not this time. I purchased this arbor to use for a slotting saw operation the runout was so bad it jammed twice when I checked it with an indicator it had .005 runout, measured the saw hole supporting surfaces and they were .004 undersized making a total .009 runout the cap and retaining screw tighted so much that I had to use channelocks and a cheater bar on the hex wrench to coax it loose Dont waste you $ on this.

Just like many Harbor Freight tools, this arbor is not a tool you want to make a living with, but works fine. You get what you pay for. With that said...Put some grease or anti-sieze on the screw, cup, and body where everything meets up.I used this once, and now it won't come apart. I tried torch heat, penetrating oil, impact socket, channel lock, EVERYTHING I had at my disposal...but the installed blade is now a permanent part. When the blade wears out, I have to trash the whole thing. This situation is likely from allowing the arbor to rub against the aluminum material I was cutting a slot into. Apparently the friction welded everything together.Lesson learned.

Nice tool, worked well. Only drawback it works best with a 1" arbor cutter.

This holds blades up to 1/4" thick with arbor holes between 1/2" and 1". Almost all of the blades sold on Amazon are metric. A blade with a 22mm hole can be used but will not be centered properly.
