The big advantage of this arbor is that it works with popular drills with 3/8" chucks and has the 5/8"-18 interface thread used by larger hole saws. This allows common 3/8" drills to be used with larger hole-saw blades for those cases where the cutting forces are low enough to allow use of a 3/8" drill and not require a 1/2" drill. This was very important to me, as I don't own a 1/2" drill, and wanted to use one of my many 3/8" drills for cutting holes in the ceiling for 4" recessed lighting cans.Another nice feature of the Milwaukee arbor is that its pin extractor mechanism toggles in & out so that one doesn't have to constantly hold the pins back when threading on the hole saw blade (in contrast to the Dewalt design). After the blade in screwed on, one simply snaps the pins out into the engaged position. The only issue I encountered was the set screw that holds the pilot drill was in incredibly tight. I had to briefly heat the mechanism with a torch to get the set screw to untighten. For my application I wanted to use a longer pilot drill. The 1/4" drill that comes with the unit only sticks out about 2 1/4 " beyond the rear base of of the hole saw blade. By loosening the set screw, one can extend it out another 3/4". In my case I swapped the pilot drill for the one from my Dewalt arbor, which is also about a 1/2" inch longer that the Milwaukee pilot drill.Works great...highly recommended!

I like the heavy duty feel of it. But the motion of the outside pin part depends on tiny set screw to function. I haven't used it much and it's been sitting around for a few years. Now the pin part doesn't slide up and down as easily. Since this is not cheap, I'm wondering how long this will last. I hope it lasts at least through wiring of one house. The pilot drill is also about 2" from the holder. Not long enough for few tall hole saws. Generous 3.5" would be appreciated.
