Very sturdy hooks. The screws are too small though...

The product it’s self is heavy duty and solidly made. However, like so many other companies these days the company provides screws that are crap. They are smaller and thinner than, in my opinion, they ought to be and I am afraid that they may not hold as good as they should. Now I have to go to the store and purchase screws that are a bit more meaty. Just, stop with the cheap screws already!

These cast iron brackets seem a lot stronger and thicker than the old pot metal brackets we had (two of which have broken in the last 3 years). I expect they will last a lot longer. The screws, however...All five screws are the same size and length, and they are pitiful. I wound up using the two screws from the old straps to attach them to the rail because they were far thicker and a bit longer. And I never even considered using these little thing to attach the brackets to the wall. They would barely penetrate into the stud. Instead, I used some 1-3/4" cabinet screws. They are made to hang upper cabinets from the wall, so they are much stronger. The star-drive heads do not strip like they often do on cheaper screws. The manufacturer really needs to supply appropriate screws, especially when it could be a safety issue. Would've given these 5 stars if they had good screws.

I've bought two sets of these A29 cast iron brackets. Four holding a seven foot log rail, and two for a separate 40" rail above the longer one. These are on the wall going up to the loft in our log home. They look great, and I'm very confident in their sturdiness. Of course, there's always a minor negative. In this case, it's the absolutely ridiculous screws supplied with the brackets. But, I expected very little, so a bought a package of #8 flat head, #2 Phillips drive screws, to do a proper mounting job. These are 1-3/4" long, black finish--to match the black bracket, and are advertised as: "high strength", and I think they are. Many of the Chinese screws snap right off during installation, but not these. I also obtained these screws on Amazon.I recommend these brackets since we've been using the rails for about three years now with no issues at all.

Feels heavy duty and looks great. Rail is feels solid after install. Only thing I didn't like is: 1) screws are slotted head instead of Philips head; 2) screws to attach to wall need to be longer. Ended up using 2", #6 black wood screws to attach to the wall.
